Anyone else getting married at the Gaylord?

We met with the event coordinator yesterday after spending the past few weeks emailing back and forth and I was able to shave off another $1800 so I wanted to share my success in case anyone else is using the same venue as well as see if anyone has gotten anything better.  I'm a bargain shopping queen, but I hate to haggle and am not at all good at it.  I was determined to see what I could get shaved off the standard prices despite my reticence and am so glad I did!

Right off the bat, I got another $10 off per person on the reception which will save us $661.  I also got 30 free valet validations instead of just 15 so that will save us another $510.  I had asked about a discount on the ceremony fee and was told it wasn't possible, but when he sent the new contract, he knocked $500 off the ceremony fee which will actually save us another $661 after gratuities and taxes.

So, I was able to shave another $1832 off the biggest expense we have and they've added other perks since we first started talking to them so I'm even more excited about the venue and more impressed with how much we're really getting for our money.  :)

  • Who did you work with there? We got engaged there and we're thinking of getting married there in November. But it is our second wedding and would only be 20 people or less, Im sure they would rather hold out for the larger weddings. We just liked the backdrop and thought it would be nice. I'm a little scared hearing about the high prices though! But sounds like you have had good luck.
