Place Card Question

Ok so we invited a handfull of people with "and guest" on their invitation, which is totally fine with me. Problem is a bunch of them responded with only their name on the respond card but with two meal choices so they are obviously bringing a guest but didn't specify. WWYD? I don't want to call all of these people. Should I just put so-and-so's guest on the place card? Or just guest?

    I tried to find out the names. One of Fi's sisters didn't get us the name on time, her card said "FI's sister and Guest". I hated doing that and hers was the only one but the cards had to be at the venue Monday morning and she didnt give us the name until Monday night. Oh well.

    I got all of their names except for one guest. Ask around if you can otherwise just put down "Brittany's Guest" and just put one of their meal choices, they can always swap if it's wrong.

    we got all of our guest's names, and for people who didn't specify, called to find out their meal choices. How many people are you talking about, here? It would be worth it to me to make some phone calls to make sure my place cards and meal choices were correct

    I only had one missing guest name and I just put "guest of _________" on their place card. It ended up being a joke throughout the night since he introduced himself as "guest" and completed his mad libs signing it "guest of _________" :-)
