cake and DJ in NYC

what's the going rate for a simple cake for 100 guests?  Also, any DJ recco's?

Cakes run the gamut.  You could get great cupcakes for 100 for $200 from Baked in Red Hook, or you could spend more like $700-$1000 or more for a tiered cake... really depends on what you want.
People always recommend DJ Gaza & Pop Shop.  I'm using someone I found on Indiebride who is DJing as a sideline so charges much less.  Feel free to PM me for her info, if you want.

Ditto; we had just under 100 guests though told the baker we had 100 and we got a great cake for $300 (and that was for a kosher cake, which is more problematic than regular cakes).

DJ I used popshop djs (Collen) - my wedding was this past weekend and she did an amazing job!

I'm using Carol Moore of Starry Night as my DJ.

I have looked at April Reed Cakes, but haven't booked anything yet.  Her cakes are gorgeous and if I remember correctly, she isn't too horribly expensive.

Early in planning  - tackling DJs first -- meeting next week with Starry Night and Jon @ Aria Melody in Hoboken.  Many of the girls in the North Jersey board seem to like them both.  Will look into DJ Gaza and Popshop though, too!

Look up John Arden Music under vendors for the DJ
