Mixing live and recorded music for the ceremony

We are unsure if we can afford having a full set of live musicians for the ceremony. I know I'd like to have at least a solo violinist or a guitar but I'm worried about it sounding underwhelming and incomplete.

I've considered having a pre-recorded backgound music with the live music playing over/with it. Has anyone ever done something like this before? Did work out? Or am I just crazy for even imagining such a wacky combo?

    Hi Bajn,
Pre-recorded background music + live music is certainly possible, but there is one major caveat. The musician must be willing and able to rehearse at least once with the recording to sync the rhythms and make sure that he or she is in the same key as the recording. The musician also needs to have the same sheet music edition that is used on the recording, if you have a specific piece in mind.

Hope this is of use...and no, you're not crazy!
