Ring Insurance

Anyone get their ring insured yet?  Who did you go through and how much was it?  I need to get this done ASAP.  This morning I was putting on stocking so I took it off so I would not ruin my stockings and bout had a heart attack because for a split second I forgot where I put my ring.

  • Yes through Homeowner Insurance as well. My jeweler also offered insurance but I can't remember who it was through.

  • Agree with pp. I am going thru this process now. I was looking at going with the company called perfect circle. But we called progressive. They told me I need together the ring appraised at a local jeweler, send the paperwork to them and they would give me a quote within 10 days. They would put it under my new renters insurance policy as a rider. Not sure for how much.

  • Mine is on my insurance as a personal article. But Zales pissed me off because they told me the no longer do appraisals and they could only give me a certificate of insurance on my ring which basically tells the insurance company what was paid for the ring.....NOT what the ring is WORTH. Every diamond in my ring is a certified diamond with a certified GIA card. When I sent my certificate to my insurance they told me that there was no way my ring was worth what was listed on the paper. Soooooooooo I had to pay $85 to a certified jeweler and have my ring appraised and that appraisal showed a HUGE difference. Bae was like WOMAN I am glad I caught that on sale and talked the woman down on the price a little plus it had the storewide percentage off...I just kissed him patted him on his booty and sent him on his way LMAO! So make sure you get the true price of what your ring is worth NOT what your FI paid for it because should something actually happen to your ring you could end up having to get a $2000 ring when it was actually worth $7000...hope this helps!

This.  I believe it's called replacement value.

stop it inch-high, you know you can't reach his booty.
  • I have my rings insured through Jewelers Mutual. They were easy to deal with. I had no issues. Did everything online and by fax.

  • I also had my ring insured through Jeweler's Mutual. Florida is really funny when it comes to insurance, so I wasn't able to get it tacked on to my homeowner's insurance. However, they were very inexpensive and easy to deal with.

<div>Well when I was engaged before my ex paid like 3200 for my ring and at that time Zales did appraisals and my ring was appraised at $6,492...so that was what my insurance insured it for...they didn't care what we paid for it...they wanted me to have the same replacement ring at the same value as my original ring...so yes you are right!</div><div>
</div><div>and YES I can reach his booty! lol</div>

  • Liberty Mutual, my HOI, insured my ring under a Personal Articles policy.  It was very simple.  I just showed the appraisal and bingo, the ring is insured.  (I have serveral pieces of jewelry insured this way.)   Oh and jeweler from where the ring was purchased prepared the appraisal.
