New York-New York City

Loved all of my vendors! Tips for all of you brides...

Let me start by saying we did not want a traditional wedding.  We love NYC and knew that our wedding had to be in Manhattan.  We hated the thought of being stuck in one place for the whole wedding and wanted to incorporate our favorite aspects of the city into our big day.   We also knew that we wanted our favorite restaurant Txikito (txikitonyc.com/) to host the dinner so we more or less built our wedding day around dinner there.

We were not on a strict budget but I hated the idea of spending so much money on one day.  So there are some things that we cut corners on (the loft, cupcakes, etc) and other aspects where we were happy to pay whatever price to make our guests happy, like dinner and photos.

We had the ceremony at Madison Square Park which was lovely and the best part we had my sister get ordained to marry us.

Like I mentioned earlier the cocktail hour and dinner took place at Txikito.

The reception was held at a loft.  We wanted dancing, drinking, and dessert in an intimate but very "New York" space.  320 Studios (320studiosnyc.com) was the perfect fit for our 50 guests and the staff was amazingly helpful.  Almost all of our guests were out of towners and loved the views and the terrace.

My event planner was Jenn Heger (jenn@nycrevelry.com ) who was patient and sweet and listened to what my vision was.  From start to finish she was amazing.

We opted for cupcakes instead of a cake and used Sugar Sweet Sunshine (http://www.sugarsweetsunshine.com/)

My husband was only in charge of choosing the DJ and I was blown away by his choice.  We have very different tastes in music and Carlos played a perfect mix.  He chose Carlos aka DJ Ceremony (http://www.djceremony.com/).

Hair and make up was something I had no idea where to start and how to go through the process of finding an artist.  I will go back again and again to Erin and Jess of Primp (http://primpnyc.blogspot.com/ primpnyc@gmail.com) for various hair and make up needs.  I cannot do my hair for an event for the life of me and they were fun, professional, and had great prices.

Last but not least I cannot say enough about our photographers, Kyle Hepp and her husband Sebastian (http://www.kylehepp.com/).  She has such an artistic eye and made my husband so comfortable (he hates having photos).  We have only seen a handful of the retouched photos but I can assure you she is worth every penny.

The next time I host a party I would not think twice of hiring everyone all over again.

Did you use a florist you would recommend or did you do the flowers yourself?

We went to the floral district.  I originally did not want to have flowers but was convinced at the last minute.  We spent about $300 and I am glad I did.  My sister ended up making the bouquets.
