Reading question: Sirach

My sister called me last night confirming my reading. She's printing my programs today.
She couldn't find Sirach in either of her two bibles. She isn't Catholic.
Is Sirach a Catholic Bible reading? I have a Catholic edition bible, and a Harper Collins Study bible from university. The book Sirach is in both of them.

Just wanted to know why it isn't in all Bibles.

Sirach is in the Catholic Bible.

If she is printing out the words to the readings, she needs to be using the New American translation. Actually, it is prefereble that the reading comes directly from the lectionary rather than a bible because there might even be a word or 2 different here and there.

She's not printing the entire reading out. Just what book and verses. She was more concerned that I had given her an incorrect reading because she couldn't find it.

It's not in all Bibles because other churches have taken out books depending on the religion itself. While I normally don't rely on Wikipedia for all my information this gives a good run down of the books verses religions.

Sirach is in both of our Catholic Bibles. We chose a verse from Sirach for one of our readings.

For most people, Sirach is considered part of what's called the Apocrypha. Lots of churches don't regard the Apocrypha as canon, the Catholic church does.

I really like my Oxford Bible for Apocryphal readings, because there are tons and tons of footnotes.

Sirach is in the Catholic bible. There are a handful of books in the Catholic and Orthodox bibles that are not in Protestant bibles. These books are definitely interesting reads (I love Sirach), and they give some history about the Jewish religion that are a tad more modern, for example the origins of Hanukkah (that's be in 1 Maccabes).
