Hi all-
I imagine some of you have already booked photography or are in the process. I just started the process and find it more complicated than expected. I haven't been able to determine yet what industry standards are (waiting on responses) so I thought I'd ask you about your experiences. A few questions, if anyone would be willing to give pointers?
Did you buy copyright and if you did, were you allowed to:
1) Share on/submit to wedding blogs, share on your own blog and post on Facebook?
2) Edit your photos as you saw fit (cropping, photoshopping out crows feet/a spot on his suit/that beach chair in the background, etc., changing the color/contrast)?
Did your photographer indicate he/she would seek permission before selling photos of you to others?
Did you get hi/lo res photos or just one or the other, and if so, did you get all of them?
How long was your engagement shoot? Did you have any prints/editing/ included? How many shots?
Did you go for an album? Was having an album important to you?
Did your cancellation policy allow for full refund at any point? Any special considerations for death of bride or groom (I know, grim)?
What was your postponement policy (i.e. due to region-wide weather emergency)?
Did you just say the hell with negotiating any of that and just get wedding insurance?
What percentage did you put down for deposit?
Thanks so much!
Re: Photography question
Wedding insurance? I don't plan on getting wedding insurance.

Did you get hi/lo res photos or just one or the other, and if so, did you get all of them? I only got offered the hi res.
How long was your engagement shoot? Did you have any prints/editing/ included? How many shots? Yes they were included in our package as well it took us about 2 hours we took pictures around a golf course so the driving from spot to spot took a little while. She did do all the editing it was included. I haven't gotten the photos back yet but she is giving us them on a cd to do whatever we want to them!
Did you go for an album? Was having an album important to you? Yes but it was also included in our package!
Did your cancellation policy allow for full refund at any point? Any special considerations for death of bride or groom (I know, grim)? Not that I can remember
What was your postponement policy (i.e. due to region-wide weather emergency)? I don't think that would happen but she would just reschedual for us!
What percentage did you put down for deposit? our package was $1500 and we only had to put $100 down
Share on/submit to wedding blogs, share on your own blog and post on Facebook? Yes
Edit your photos as you saw fit (cropping, photoshopping out crows feet/a spot on his suit/that beach chair in the background, etc., changing the color/contrast)? She can edit as can we
Did your photographer indicate he/she would seek permission before selling photos of you to others? Nope, she can sell away and use our pictures as she wants. Neither of us really cared.
Did you get hi/lo res photos or just one or the other, and if so, did you get all of them? Only hi-res offered
How long was your engagement shoot? Did you have any prints/editing/ included? How many shots? We're having our engagement session in a few weeks. It was included in our package.
Did you go for an album? Was having an album important to you? We did get an album and paid extra to get the one we wanted (flush mount - better I think for long term wear and tare)
Did your cancellation policy allow for full refund at any point? Any special considerations for death of bride or groom (I know, grim)? Yes (under special circumstances) but nothing specific to death
What was your postponement policy (i.e. due to region-wide weather emergency)? We didn't really talk about postponement
Did you just say the hell with negotiating any of that and just get wedding insurance? No wedding insurance at this point
What percentage did you put down for deposit? Just under 50%
Share on/submit to wedding blogs, share on your own blog and post on Facebook? Yes-full rights to use photos as we wish
Edit your photos as you saw fit (cropping, photoshopping out crows feet/a spot on his suit/that beach chair in the background, etc., changing the color/contrast)? Our photographer edits every single picture before she gives us a disk with everything. Once we have the disk, we can do as we please as far as editing on our own
Did your photographer indicate he/she would seek permission before selling photos of you to others? This was part of our signed contract. She owns our photos just like we do and she can use them as she wants.
Did you get hi/lo res photos or just one or the other, and if so, did you get all of them? Only hi-res offered
How long was your engagement shoot? Did you have any prints/editing/ included? How many shots? Included in package- we took 2.5 hours
Did you go for an album? Was having an album important to you? Not included in our package, but we have the option to add it later up to a year after wedding date.
Did your cancellation policy allow for full refund at any point? Any special considerations for death of bride or groom (I know, grim)? Nothing about death. No full refunds with cancellation
What was your postponement policy (i.e. due to region-wide weather emergency)? Natural Disaster clause in the signed contract
Did you just say the hell with negotiating any of that and just get wedding insurance? No insurance
What percentage did you put down for deposit? We put down a $500 deposit and are on a payment plan until 1 month before our wedding.
