Cakes? (Oahu)

Mornin' gals! Hope everyone is having a pleasant week. Laughing

Wanted to get some ideas on cakes. What are you or did you do for your wedding cake? A friend suggested a 3 tier white cake (for 85 guests)  and then we decorate it with fresh flowers. Or do a 2 tier cake for show and then buy a flat sheet cake to save on $.

Where is everyone getting their cakes and what's the price range? It sucks because there's also a delivery charge of $75 to North Shore....Frown

Hi! Sorry we're using the hotel's baker so we don't have to pay a cake cutting fee. Here's our cake. It'll be buttercream and not fondant. The flavor is tropical tango - vanilla bean with lilikoi mousse and fresh mango filling. And we're getting cymbidium orchids from the florist so everything looks the same.  The ones shown are very expensive so of course we're not getting those. It's $450 for a three tier cake.

Oh pretty! Is buttercream smooth like fondant? I'm thinking no...and I like the fondant look but would rather have the buttercream taste....

Hi Bella, if we have a cake we're using Tiers of Joy from Honolulu.  She also runs D'Lish Catering with her sister.  We'll do a 3 tier square for about 75 people, so extra cake with fresh flowers and sugar palm trees on the side, and 2 little surfboards stuck in the top.  She only uses butter cream icing, which was super tasty, but it was a smooth as fondant.  I'm with you.  I love the look but hate the taste.

Hi, we initally was going to go with a cake too but decided to go with cupcakes!  We went with Frosted, she does cakes too and they are adorable and hear she has nothing but great reviews :)  We got 48 cupcakes with designs, picking it up ourselves for a little less than $200!

Cakeworks...hands down. We tried several for our upcoming wedding and loved Abi and Debbie. They are awesome and so helpful.

Here is a picture of our cake. Its 3 tiers and I think its running us about 250. We chose the Vanilla bean cake with the hazelnut buttercream filling. They are doing all the piping decor in the buttercream as well. The flowers are sugar flowers with Swarovski crystals in the centers :)
