Is it just me or do weddings make you bipolar

Lol its like im happy and excited one moment and then boom im sad and behind the next. I didnt realize until FI was like you are so bipolar when I freaked out over a broken vase for my reception! Not to mention I was already upset because one of my BM basically told me im too young to get married and its probably gone fail cause her parents' marriage did.

Re: Is it just me or do weddings make you bipolar

  • It is a stressful time for sure. We are trying to have the weddings we want and trying to make everyone esle happy. Managing budgets, appointments, fittings, etc on top of school/work/family/friends can be challenging. Freaking over something breaking is not that rare of a reaction.

As for what your BM said, I am so sorry someone you consider a good friend or family memeber said this to you. Just let it roll off of your back and don't take it personally. She shouldn't have said this, but maybe her opinion is a little biased considering her situation. Just realize it doesn't apply to you simply because it happened to her parents.

Ditto em0, but also tell your FI to chill. Calling you bipolar because you snapped was not called for. By now, I'm sure he can tell that the wedding is making you edgier than you were before. Did he really think that that statement would go over well? My FI wouldn't dare say that to me...he has a healthy fear :)
  • Im trying, but it really did bother me. I think it bothered my FI too because he has been distancing himself from her and yeah she said it in front of him. Plus he already felt she puts others down because she not happy. Im kind of over it I just wanna get married haha!

  • I feel like I'm on an emotional roller coaster too..  I am happier than I have ever been in my entire life, I literally feel rushes of giddy emotion at the fact that we are getting married NEXT MONTH!!!  At the same time I feel so happy, I also find that my patience is worn thin and I feel overstretched (too much to do, too little time).

Oh, of course he was kidding. I wasn't trying to say that he was being serious in saying that. Sometimes guys just don't get when it's OK to kid and when it's time to be serious. At the beginning, there were many times where my FI tried to mess with me when I was upset, thinking that would lighten the mood and make me laugh. All it did was upset me more. After a few times, he realized that there is a time/place for joking & that time is NOT when I'm upset. Silly boys.
  • I thought it was just me, but I'm the same way. I get all excited one minute and totally down the next. We've got sooooo much going on right now, I'm just so exhausted. We've got the wedding, we're building our house, my FI's an artist and we have a show next week, and we're trying to get our furnishings for the house.
Every weekend is booked, and we still haven't got everything done. AHHHHH!
I've really been enjoying going to work, since I don't have to stress about everything else.
  • You're definitely not alone. I think we can all have mood swings... not only that, but this wedding is starting to bring out the best and the worst of some of my family and friends. Oy.

    Ditto
  • I am with you. This wedding is making me bipolar, scatter brained, essentially a mess. Although, it may have something to do with the fact that I am planning a wedding from 500 miles away and my venue is under construction (and the site did not have the decency to let me know) with 7 weeks until my wedding day.
I am so looking forward to enjoying a long weekend with all my closest friends and family, but some days I am not sure all the sress is worth it.
