Wedding Officiant

Hi ladies,

Does anyone have recommendations for a justice of the peace or non-denominational/very liberal minister?  Our wedding is next summer, and we're looking for someone who will take the time to get to know us and help to make our ceremony personal.  My fiance is not religious at all and I'm not overly religious, so we want to take a different approach to our wedding day.

Since we're not going the traditional church route it's really hard to know how to get started with this. I'd really appreciate any input that anyone has.  Thanks!

Alison

We are using Reverend Eric O'Connor. He did not marry us yet (we're not getting married until July 2012) but we sat down with him about a month ago and fell in love with him. He is VERY personable and made us feel extremely comfortable with him. He lets you customize your ceremony and you can have as much or as little religion involved as you want. My fiance and I are just like you and yours. He is not religious and I'm not overly religious but I do want to have a blessing on our day and it's important to my parents so he is perfect. Here is his link on weddingwire. If you have any questions let me know. We are SO excited to have him marry us.

We're using Two Hearts (www.handfasted.com). She has both religious and non-religious officiants, and she has a bunch of little mini-ceremonies. I believe the cost was $175 for the ceremony, then an extra $50 for the rehearsal dinner and $25 for the handfasting ceremony we're doing. So, $250 total plus travel. Rev. Sue is super nice and has tons of ideas!

The best officiants I've ever worked with (I'm in the wedding industry!), are Rev. Susie Trice http://champagnememories.com/2601.html, and Michele Snyder of Yellow Bird Wedding http://yellowbirdwedding.com/2011/06/27/hello-world/.  They're both absolutely fantastic, and will work with you to create a ceremony that is exactly what you want it to be! :)
