Dress Fitting Depression

Hi ladies.  I had my second fitting today and man, do I feel low.  I went in two weeks ago when I got my dress and everything fit perfectly, except for the bust and length, which needed a bit of alteration.  In the time that has since passed, my FI and I went on vacation. I tried my best to keep to my diet and felt pretty good about everything.  That is, until this morning.

The tailor could not zip my dress all the way.  I wanted to cry.  Now, I just feel fat and bloated and miserable.

I know that rationally, I have over two months until the big day, and a month and a half until my final fitting.  However, I just feel so awful.

Any tips?

Sorry for the lengthy vent.

Re: Dress Fitting Depression

  • I find it hard to believe you put on enough weight to make your dress not fit in two weeks. I would just drink a TON of water and stick to healthy eating. You'll be fine and you'll look beautiful on your big day :)

  • Ditto what PP said.

    Don't stress, it'll be fine.

  • Also, was it that time of the month?  That can add bloating.  When we were in a wedding several years ago, my MOH had her alterations done on her BM dress 1 month out, and they couldn't zip it, then came back the next week and it was fine.....now since the wedding fell on the week, she ended up taking water pills.  haha  It doesn't seem that would be your case based on your ticker.  Anyway, I agree that I find it hard to believe that in 2 wks you gained enough to not fit, so maybe this is a reason.  Don't worry!

  • Try not to stress, you'll be fine.

Cut out pop, juice and alcohol. You'd be surprised how many calories are in beverages. Stick to whole grains and lean meats and of course lots of fruit and veggies.

  • I agree with all the PP's.  I know my weight fluctuates as much as 5lbs from a week to another depending on my water and sodium intake and if it's that time of the month.  Also, if she took it in at the bust, maybe she went too far down when taking it in.

Give it a few weeks, watch your diet and maybe add a little more to your exercise routine if you feel it's necessary.

  • Thanks, ladies!  A day later, I feel much better. My FI was great about it, and I've planned out my meals and exercise for the next two weeks. Having a plan makes me feel much more calm. As an added boost, out invitations have arrived in many mailboxes.  I'm so excited!

  • Do you think THEY took it in too much? If you had to alter the bust and now you can't zip it? Just sayin.....
