The Rivers Club/Duquesne U. Power Center

I have a date set with the church and photographer. We are getting married at Duquesne Univ. chapel and we really are interested in the Power Center Ballroom but they are holding it right now for another couple until monday. I'm hoping they don't take it because I really don't want to change my date!!

BUT my other venue I'm looking into is the Rivers Club downtown...has anyone had any experience there?? I'm waiting for some pricing and information.

We really are city people so we want to stay downtown somewhere without having to spend alot....if anyone has suggestions I would appreciate it!

We have looked at heinz Field which we love! Also we like the Sheraton SS but it's out of our price range

Elishanb had her wedding there recently.. hopefully she will chime in!!

I checked it out but didn't choose it.  I found their coordinator, Amanda, to be very friendly and helpful.  We were told that since we were off-season (April), that we wouldn't have a minimum spending, but that a May-October wedding would have a 10K spending minimum.  She did say that things like linen upgrades, etc could count toward that minimum, which I thought was awesome because most places with minimums told us they were food and drink only.  The room doesnt have a spectacular view, imo, if you are expecting that, but it's a very nice space.

The package price was something like $89/person with everything you expect (...I'd have to look it up when I got home for specifics.)

This might be completely unhelpful, but the Regional Enterprise Tower has a great view and you can rent it for between $2500- $3500...you have to do a lot of the work, but you can bring in any caterer or any other company...that might be more in your price range

Thanks! I hadn't heard of that Tower MRads, but I will have to check it out!

mdphd- Thanks for the info! Our wedding is April as well so that's nice that there's no min.! I think I'll talk with the wedding coordinator and take a look at the space!

I seriously considered both venues in my search- they were in my top 3. If you want my personal experience with them and info I received, feel free to PM me.

the regional enterprise is in the early stages of looking for new ownership. our company supplies one of their utilities and we were just given notice literally today. i don't know if that has any impact on booking events there. i just know that they are struggling to pay the costs for the building because so many of their large tenants have left the building.

    just an informational post, really.

Hey I did just recently have my wedding at the Rivers Club. I can say that it was perfect. The staff (from our first meeting with Denise to help with getting the gifts to the car at the end of the night) were so helpful. The food was great and the look was pretty awesome.
My hub and I too wanted the downtown to play host to everything. So this fit perfect for us. Walking distance to some great photo ops and easy to find for guests. I found the price to be pretty reasonable (for my budget that is)

Any other questions feel free to PM me I"m not on here a lot anymore but I'm still around. :) GL!

I am having the exact oposite problem! I am a Duquesne Grad and would love to have the wedding in the chapel and the reception at the Power Center. The chapel was unfortunately booked almost solid around the time we want to have our wedding but we did book the Power Center Ballroom. Does anyone have suggestions on Catholic Churches around Duquesne?
