Need Maui and/or Oahu help

My son, who is stationed on Oahu, is getting married!!!  We are thrilled for them but he has no idea how to plan a wedding and his fiancee is home at her mother's until June in Estonia, so it looks like I am the planner.

Unfortunately they are deciding between Maui or Oahu.  Maui is fairly easy but Oahu, any recommendations?  I am pushing for Maui personally but the final choice is theirs.  Wedding will be in July/August 2012.

So, any recommendations on the following would be awesome for either Maui or Oahu:

1.  Floral vendors
2.  Photographers
3.  Reception locations (it looks like it will be a very small group - prob. 25)
4.  Cake vendors

Thankls for any and all help ....

Not sure how to respond to this one.  I guess it would be just easier to tell you what we are doing and let you know that our decisions are based on what type of wedding we wanted, simple/laid back, and the reviews of the venues/vendors that we are using.  This is a second marriage for each of us and it was important to bring our children so we have a pretty tight budget.
We will be getting married on the beach in Maui. We are trying to decide between 3 beaches right now Makena(Secrets), Po'olenalena, and Oneloa. Leaning towards Po'olenalena right now because it is close to our venue. Our reception will be a brunch buffet at Gannon's on the Wailea Golf Club. They have great reviews for food and have been very easy to work with.  If you do decide to use them, know that you do not need to use their WC. They have their own pastry chef so we will order our cake from Gannon's.  We are using Lisa from Enchanted Maui Weddings as our WC. Not many knot brides have used her but I found great reviews on a few other sites and she has been great to work with.  Her packages are very affordable and she does her own Photography.  If you look in her gallery you can see some of her work.  As far as floral we will be using Maui Floral and booking our flowers through Costco.  The prices are much more affordable.
I hope this helps. Good luck and welcome.

I have oahu vendor reviews in my bio! Oahu seems easier since they live there.

Why do you think Maui is easier than Oahu?  I actually think Oahu has a better selection of vendors, and if that's where your son currently lives, would make logistics simpler for everyone.

Some of my favorite Oahu photogs:
    - Shawn Starr
    - Visionari

Reception locations -- are you looking for a hotel?  Restaurant?  Private estate?  Each has a very different look & feel, and also cost.  What about a wedding venue?  Sounds like you have some ideas already, but the location of the ceremony can have some influence on the location of the reception.

Both islands offer a lot, and it depends what you want.  Once you decide on an island, you might also consider hiring a local wedding coordinator to help you with venues, vendors, etc.
