Getting in Shape

Ugggggg

I am so unmovitaved!  I desperately wanting to lose wieght.  I've been "pondering" my options but I just don't know how to get started!  My fiance is wonderful...makes me feel beautiful...sexy...all the things a man should.  But I am just so down about my weight, I don't want to be, well I don't want to feel like a huge whale on my wedding day.

  • Welcome! You need to stop making excuses. The accountability thread can help you here but at the end of the day the motivation has to come from you. What are your goals, preferences, time/space/resource constraints? Tell us more an we can help you come up with a plan. But at the end of the day it's up to you.
  • I agree that you need to stop making excuses and start small.

The best way to start, IMO, is not to CUT things, but to ADD them.  That sounds silly, but listen.  Need to cut down on soda/sugary drinks?  ADD water.  If you make yourself drink more water, it's easier to stop drinking soda, because you won't be thirsty and you won't want to be peeing every 15 minutes.  So take a week to not worry about cutting out soda, and increase your water intake.

ADD servings of fruits/veggies.  Eventually, they'll replace your less healthy snacks.

  • I agree with JK!

I also say just get out there.  I can find a hundred reasons not to go out and run, but I focus on the fact that I feel awesome when I'm done.  Some days it's really hard, but the harder the days the better I feel when I've accomplished it.  I love that post workout tired feeling.

Definitely find a kind of exercise you like and will want to stick with.  Not everyone has to run.  Or bike.  Or Zumba!
