those bringing their own beer

has their been a place that you have found it the cheapest? Sams, Costco, Walmart or online? We need to start buying and I'm def. going for as cheap as I can get! TIA!

Re: those bringing their own beer

  • Sorry, can't help.  We're going for quality here since we're only doing it because we don't like the beer choice of our venue.  I guess we are beer snobs :)

I'd call around and check on prices.  See if anyone would be willing to give you a discount due to the fact it's your wedding.

  • I'm not bringing my own beer, but an aquanitance of mine did for her wedding about a year ago. She said she found some discounts online but the shipping was killer because it's fragile and very heavy. She ended up buying both her beer and wine from HEB (grocery store in Texas, not sure if it's in your area) and she said it was very reasonably priced - and I want to say they even delivered it!

<div>I didn't mean cheap as in crappy beer.... I'd prefer a good dogfish 90 minute to a crappy miller lite anyday but thanks for the insight. </div>

</div><div>ah man, I love HEB but it's not around here! BOO! Our grocery stores are kind of jerks around here. Whats a girl gotta do to get some dang guinness! </div>
  • Do you have Spec's? We actually found their beer prices to be comparable to Costco. I think Costo was $1/bottle and Spec's was $1.10/bottle but Spec's would let us pick it up cold and Costco would not.

Spec's has people that will consult with you and generate spreadsheets.

We got a variety of 1/6 kegs- The two we got from New Belgium were about $100 together, and the Oskar Blues 1/6 keg we got from a liquor store (the brewery was out of them.. Wth?) ran over $100 just by itself. If you have any local breweries, I HIGHLY recommend just going directly to them and see what kind of deal you can get.

EDIT: The liquor store keg was so much because we got it from near the CU campus and the store had redonkulous deposits for the keg and tap.

<div>i'll check out the local breweries, we have a couple good ones. sad thing is no kegs at our venue. Kegs and B&B's don't go hand in hand and add that in with a VERY strict owner. grr</div>

<div>Aww, that sucks about no kegs :/ We mainly got them because we're driving 1400 miles to get to our venue- We thought the kegs would travel better than 200 bottles of beer ;)</div>

  • oooo i couldn't stand driving with bottles of beer- i'd be so sad if a beer got wasted because it broke!
  • What's your B&B's objection to kegs? Would they let you have kegs if you also rented a jockey box? The jockey box is that portable tap you see them using a beer festivals. It just makes the whole keg situation a little classier.

<div>she has an objection to everything. she is very high class and honestly i think it just comes down to the fact that she thinks kegs are not classy at all . i could care less, nobody is going to see it but whatever...not my venue lol. </div>
  • Do you have any liquor stores in the area?  I know the cheapest place here is a place called "Discount Liquor", funny enough.  I think because it's the only thing they sell, they buy it in the biggest bulk and can pass on the biggest discount.
