Food Tasting AFTER downpayment

My fiance and I have been looking for two months now for the perfect reception place. We have finally narrowed it down to two places: The Millennium Hotel (Buffalo, NY by the Walden Galleria Mall) and Antonio's (Niagara Falls by the Casino). The Millennium however, will not allow us to do a tasting until AFTER we put our $1,000 deposit down.

Has anyone run into this issue?

Any know if the Millennium Hotel has good food - for weddings?

They usually don't do tastings without a deposit. The tasting is for you to choose which dishes you will offer not to see if you like what they serve. I think places should offer samples for a plate fee or something. That would help I'd think, but typically they want the deposit first.

You could ask on the Western NY board I'm sure someone has tried the food at those locations before though. Good luck!

I put my deposit down in Aug and I am not able to schedule my food tasting until Oct. 30th. I'm okay with it since I narrowed down the venue for other reasons. Price, location, flexibility. I am however getting married on a Friday in March, which cut the cost quite a bit AND they have deals with many local, QUALITY vendors. One photographer is world known. Another band is the best I've seen and I've seen most of them in that area.

An idea would be to go there for dinner and not put the deposit down, ask if some of the dishes on the wedding list is also listed on the regular menu. I did that prior to putting the deposit down. They treated me very well like I was already a customer. It's been a good experience since I get along well with the wedding coordinator. That also played a BIG part in my selection as well.

    Good Luck

    Sincerely,
    Leah

My sister did her reception at the Millenium about 1 year ago.  I got the filet and it was honestly one of the best I have ever had (definitely best I have had at a wedding).  My husband got the fish and said it was a little dry but not bad.  Good Luck!
