Who's Coming to Dinner?

So...this rehearsal dinner stuff is kinda stressing me out. I'm back & forth with who to invite. (FI & I are paying for this as well as majority of the wedding)

Who are you invited to rehearsal dinner? Is anyone doing an alternative to rehearsal dinner to save $$?

I'm thinking just the WP, officiant and my mom. And the hostess. I can't really think of many others that need to be present. Who else really needs to rehearse... let alone have me pay for their dinner?! lol.

Lol....why am I cracking up over here! That is funny, but true. Seriously....should you invite significant others? And I am not a "go by the book" kinda girl.

We are inviting the wedding party and our moms and if they bring their spouses/girlfriends they have to pay for them we are only paying for the wedding party.

We are having WP and our parents. Since our venue is right across from the beach, we are just going to have a laid back BBQ on the beach for our RD. It will relax everyone before the wedding, and cost FI and me much less than a formal setting.

Just the WP.  Our wedding venue is catering our RD, so just the WP will be there.

We are inviting the WP, and parents and a few OOT guest. We have about 45 people we are paying for. We are extending the invite to all OOT guest since half our guest are from OOT but we aren't paying for them . So in all we may have around 70 ppl there

We originally were paying for it ourselves but my grandmother found out we were going to do something like golden corral because it's what we could afford, so she stepped in and payed for it and now were are having it at phillips seafood.

We're doing WP and their sig. others, parents, officiant and wife, my aunt since she's paying for our photographers and bar tab, and uncle since he's doing the ceremony music.  If everyone came we're looking at about 31 people.  I wouldn't feel right inviting anyone to a rehearsal dinner and not paying for them.

Oh, this has stressed me out sooooo much. I made a list and it came out to like 35 people. This includes WP and their SO's, my parents, Fi's mom, my grandparents, and some other family members.

We're trying to find a restaurant now that will accommodate us all at a DECENT price. We were going to do Bahama Breeze, but what we got for the price just wasnt worth it. Back to the drawing board!

I agree with TyBoyd!! this is the R dinner!! your not trying to feed everybody before the wedding. This is for the bridal party only!! this is a gift of gratitude to thank them for being apart of you and Fi' day.
  • edited December 2011
The only people invited to the RD are the people in the wedding & ONE GUEST! I don't want anyone to see what's going on, not to mention I do not have the money to feed you, your kids, your parents & anyone else who rolls in!

Wedding Party (BMs, GMs, ushers, hostesses)
    My parents
    FI's parents

That's it - keeping it intimate (and less expensive!).
