XP - STD and Website Confusion

I know someone out there has had a similar thing happen, so please let me know if you have any ideas or if I'm totally bridezilla-ing.

We sent out our Save the Dates back in November for our July wedding. On the bottom of the STD in really small type we put our wedding website address. We didn't say "For further information, see" or anything. Just the website address. The main purpose of the website is to provide information regarding accommodations, transportation and travel. 95% of our guests are OOT, so the point of the STD in our minds was to provide this website to our OOT guests far in advance.

In speaking with some of my friends, I've been told that the website information was not clear on the STD (no shock there). Meaning, I haven't actually heard of one person realizing it was on the STD and then checking the website. I know we still have 5 months until the wedding, and most people won't reserve their hotel and travel this early, but I'm still concerned.

My question is: Would it be entirely ridiculous to send out an email to a few people that I know will be coming (i.e. family members) saying "Hey, just so you know, our wedding website is X. It has a lot of information regarding accommodations . . ." etc. Truthfully, is this overkill?

TIA ladies.

CN: No one has viewed our wedding website, which has info re hotel blocks/transportation/travel. 95% of our guests are OOT. Should I send an email with the website link or is that absolutely absurd and really tacky?

Re: XP - STD and Website Confusion

  • When they say the website info wasn't clear, do they mean that the print itself wasn't clear or that they had no idea what the website was there for?

Either way, I don't see any harm in sending an email to people about it.

  • My website information was very clear on our STDs and people still did not go to the site for information. When they asked questions I would tell them the answers but again refer them to the site. I also had clear information in my invite. Now with the hotel block expiring Thursday everyone is scrambling. This is just how people are. Plus I have information about a shuttle on the site, the accommodations card and the RSVP card and yet OOT guests are still asking how they are going to get to the church.

So frustrating! My point is, don't worry too much about it. Sure you can send an email but chances are people still won't go to the site or worry about the details. You and your FI are the only ones concerned about the details!

  • I agree with PP I don't think it would be to much to send out an extra email.

  • Sorry for the lack of clarity - I meant because it was just so small and it wasn't highlighted, not that the type was smudged or anything! :)

Thank you for the advice. I think I may try to spread the word since we aren't guaranteed extra rooms for the block at the same rate as we get closer to the wedding. They will only add to the block as they fill up, and they won't do it if it only fills up the week before deadline. May need to discuss with the hotels...
