Self Catering in Chicago? Help!

Hi there!

I'm getting married next year, and I've been looking high and low trying to find a place that will allow self catering or at the very least an outside caterer!
I'm hoping to have a small intimate brunch/high tea reception, and I have no interest in feeding 50 people meatloaf and salmon at 11 am, but I'm struggling to find a place that will allow such a thing. No one in our families has a big enough back yard or house, so we're trying to look for a venue. (Our families are also interfaith so a church basement or lawn is out)
(I have seen a lot of people saying to try public parks, I have looked and Chicago has not only extreamly high price ranges for weddings, but also has the same limited catering options saying you may only choose X, Y, and Z caterers)
Please help!! It's my dream to have a High Tea Wedding!!

Look into Tipsycake in Chicago. They have a venue space and hold teas. I am having my ceremony/reception at Prairie Production, and they do not have a preferred cater list... Hope that helps!

someone just mentionned the Living Room Lounge in another post and how they allow OC but give discounts for using their preferred

Tipsycake is the absolute WORST. Make sure you read reviews on this place before you consider using them. The owner actually called me and yelled at me after I didnt book her after a horrible cake tasting. Did I mention that she was a no show to the tasting and left me and H with the cashier who knew nothing about wedding cakes.

Look at Michelle's Ballroom in Chicago. www.michellesballroom.com, they allow you to bring in your own caterer (or own food you make at home), and allow you to bring in your own booze. Cute little place.

Yeahhh tippy cake looks cute, but it wouldn't work for us seeing as we're bringing out own cake. (a friend is a baker) Thank you though! We're going to be giving Gerri a call soon, her little tea house looks awesome!! Thank you everybody!!
