Parent's Names - correct placement

Hi There!
My Fiance has both a Stepmother and a Stepfather.
On our invitations I would like to have them read:

Theresa A G
&
Ian S M
Together with their parents
 (my parents)
... and here is where I get confused.
Should I list the Father and Stepmother next because their last names match Ian's, or Stepfather and Mother next, neither of whom share a last name?
Ian's Stepfather and Mother are paying for the majority of the wedding, but I don't know if it would step on toes listing a Stepfather before a Father.  Or leaving a Mother til the last...
Help! & thanks!

Re: Parent's Names - correct placement

  • CMGr will come along soon for exact proper wording, but if you use the "Together with their parents" you do not list the parent's names on the invite generally.  The invite would say:

    Bride
    &
    Groom

    Together with their parents
request the honor of your presense
    as they unite in matrimony

    Date
    Place
    Time

PS: For internet safety, I would edit your post to remove your full names.
  • OK.. Thanks both!  But we want to list all the parents as well as saying Together with parents...
    So:
    Bride Parents
    Stepfather & Mother
    Father and Stepmother

    Is the correct order?
  • Using the phrase "together with their parents" basically forgoes the naming of all parents on the invitation.  If you use "together with their parents" and all parents names, its sort of redundant and gets to be too wordy.  I would discuss with your FI and any parents (if they are contributing money) which phrasing CMGr wrote out would work better for your situation.
