Hi everyone! My name is Kasey and my fiancé is Anthony. We have been together for going on 4 years now. We actually met online and were instantly best friends! He has been so wonderful through out our relationship! I couldn't be happier! We were suppose to get married next March but due to my health problems, we have pushed our date back to 11-8-14 now.
I am a plus sized bride (hopefully not for long anymore

)...When I was 17 years old, I had the non adjustable gastric banding done. While it worked great for the first 1 year, it stopped. We don't know why as I follow the rules like I was suppose to. I am a big advocate against anyone having a gastric procedure done. It has caused me so many health issues and now it is at a point of being life threatening. I love fresh fruits and veggies, especially organics, but oddly healthy foods do not stay down. Anything that is considered junk food has no problem staying down. I'm at a point where the only thing I can manage to get in me has no real nutritional value to it. My body is severely depleted of nutrients and is in a malnourished state. Yes, even overweight people can be malnourished and in starvation mode. With that said, I have an appt this week with the surgeon to have the banding removed. I'm nervous and excited about that at the same time. I'm worried that the banding has caused significant damage to my stomach and it will need to be reconstructed. My doctor told me that she had one patient that had to have hers removed and my MOH has had hers removed as well, but both of them had the adjustable lap band done. However, they were both able to go right back to eating like a normal person and I am hopeful that I too will be able to do the same. I am looking forward to that so that I can eat healthy foods again and work on losing my weight the proper way. I understand why I did the banding before, I was in high school, getting picked on, no real boyfriends/dates, but I had my personality so I wasn't a complete social pariah! lol I wanted to look like all my other girlfriends, thin, cute clothes, pretty...you know, the usual stuff most teenage girls want. While the banding gives immediate results, it does not last forever and it can cause issues not matter how strict you are with following the guidelines to it. It does not teach you how to eat properly at all and when it does fail, you are still stuck with insufficent lessons on proper dieting. My fiance is a personal trainer on the side for a hobby and has worked out a exercise routine specifically for me and what I am capable of doing right now. I am so excited to be able to be "normal" again.
Sorry that got long! YIKES! I sure can start talking! lol We are just now getting back into planning. We have a venue picked out, it's a vintage chapel and pavillion and is gorgeous! I has actually been featured on the knot as a featured wedding. It's the 7F Lodge Spa and Pavillion. I went on this one path of doing a vintage rainbow themed wedding, but recently I am toying with the idea of changing it up and doing a Parisian theme. I love Paris and French is part of my heritage. So the theme is still somewhat up in the air lol...With that the colors are too. If I do the Paris theme, I am thinking of doing a French Country feel with a deep cobalt blue and white/creme colors. I haven't picked out a dress as that area of the planning seems so overwhelming and emotional for me. I no longer have my mom and my wedding party all live 3 hours away, so I go alone when looking. I have decided to wait on the dress until after the surgery and I lose at least half of my weight.
Anyway, I've talked enough! Sorry bout that! I hope to get to know most of you ladies and am excited about being apart of this group! So Hi there! Nice to meet you!!!
