How are you getting your stuff there?

This may be a dumb question but is everyone just packing anything for the wedding into their luggage? The only things I anticipate taking other then my dress is our welcome bags. Should it be ok to plan to just pack them?

We are going to arrive a day before everyone else to have one night alone and can get their bags together then. It's only 4 bags.

Re: How are you getting your stuff there?

  • I plan on packing the OOT bags and the little other odds and ends things (gifts, etc) and then carrying on my dress.  Then I plan on putting my dress in the then empty suite case for the way home.
  • We are packing all the wedding stuff in my carry on.  FI doesn't want to risk not having it.  And I will carry on my dress.  If you don't have a lot of stuff I would just pack it and take it with you.  I don't remember where you are going but Caribbean flights should be considered international so you can should be able to check one bag for free.
  • We are taking EVERYTHNG with us on the airline.  I don't trust any shipping company to get it there in tact and on time, and my coordinator has limited room to store anything so it would be dicey to send it to ourselves at the condo and hope it gets there on time.

  • We are shipping most things, but our wedding is in the US so it is much easier. I am taking my dress as a carry, but everything else will be shipped to our wedding planner!

We're debating either FedEX or DHL-ing things like favours and the silk flowers (way before we leave just in case *knocks on wood* anything happens we can bring back ups) or we'll pack everything into suitcases as FI and I both agree that we dont need hoards of clothing and can use the space for other things. We're also flying first class, more baggage allowance and I'll KNOW my dress is secure (will be carry on, but still)

This! I just shipped a bunch of stuff down this week (decor, OOT bag stuff etc). The shipping started to add up so I'm just packing the rest of the stuff in my suitcase.

And my dress and FI's outfit are being carried on together in a garment bag....I'm hoping that it fits as a carry-on....? The garment bag itself is kind of bulky but my dress bag is clear so I needed something to put it in.
  • We checked our wedding items. We checked 3 bags on the way, but only one on the way back. We did tubberware containers for 2 items and left them in Mexico since one of them was OOT bags, and the other container was stuff we didn't need to bring home.
  • We're going to carry on any and all wedding day stuff and then check the rest. So the veil, dress, shoes, accessories, and FI's attire will all be carried on!
  • We have tons of stuff to bring, so we are gonna pack everything, check it and thats that. The only things I am carrying on is my dress and maybe one bag with more important stuff in it.

I just told FI that we need to do a trial run of packing all this stuff so we can see how well it goes!

  • we're carrying on my dress and the OOT bags.   But, we're cruising so once everything goes through security the bags just get returned to our room.  I've heard horror stories of people "losing" items during these checks, but if some poor soul REALLY wants my Mrs Hogan boy shorts, then they can have them.  I'm not really worried about it.
  • I think we're checking everything but my dress.  We'll take 1-2 extra bags w/ us if needed.  If there is more, my parents are leaving 3 days after us, so they will bring an extra bag if they have too.  No shipping for us.  Too pricey and too scary for me.
