(NER) Tell me I'm being ridiculous

Morning ladies.  I have an engagement picture/STD style question, and I'm asking here because you are all so helpful. :)

We have our engagement pictures next Thursday, and I am having the hardest time figuring out what I should wear.  We plan to use one of the photos for our STDs, and I'm psyching myself out by thinking our outfits should match our wedding colors (I am OCD).  Please tell me it is unnecessary for the colors of the outfits on our STD pictures to match our wedding colors.

Our wedding is in December, and the colors will be champagne, gold, and ivory.  It is April and even if there I could find outfits in champagne and gold, they would look silly. 

So the question is: do you think anyone in their right mind will notice if our outfits in our STDs are in bright, spring colors and our wedding is much more neutral/wintery?

I know this is probably really silly, but I need to hear it from other people!

    I wanted our photos to match, too. We wore what I thought would be our colors for our June 2013 wedding... and ended up moving to a November 2013 wedding with slightly darker colors (planned, anyway - haven't picked anything officially yet... hrmm). 

    I don't think anyone will notice that it doesn't "match" your wedding invitations.

    Wear what makes you feel great and what you think will photograph well! I have gotten tons of compliments on how bright and cheery our magnets are. If we send a neutral invitation, I don't think anyone will tell me, "Oh, we thought your invitation would be so much brighter!"

    Our colors were brown, lavender and ivory.   DH and I wore black shirts and jeans for the e-pics.    


    Our STD was a magnet with an e-pic and color blocks.  One block was a light purple with darker purple lettering.  The other color block was a dark brown with ivory lettering.






    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    Thanks ladies.

    Don't worry about how I'm going to handle "the big stuff."  Most of the big decisions were made earlier in our long engagement, so wedding planning hasn't been the least bit stressful, just fun!  I do get a little weird about outfits, though.  Luckily choosing the wedding gown was painless and I am not picking anyone elses's attire.  :)

    They don't need to match. I would suggest wearing neutral colors if you're that worried about it. I always recommend wearing darker colors in photos because it's slimming (which for someone as fluffy as me, it's required). Be comfortable. :) They'll be lovely I'm sure.

    2.  If you really want the magnets to match make the pic on the STD black and white.  Presumably you're not doing an ENTIRE photo shoot just for the STD.  You'll want to frame a few, put them in scrap books, etc.  other colors will be good for that.

    Definitely just wear what makes you comfortable.  And avoid really busy patterns b/c they generally don't photograph as well as solid colors.

    Don't worry at all! We did wear our wedding colours but that's just because those are our favourite anyways lol. No one will notice or care :)

    Maybe wear an accent or two in those colors? Like an Ivory top with gold accessories and comfortable pants in any color? Cobalt blue is hot right now, but any color will do. They don't have to match anything, you should just "go" with each other.

    We took some pictures to put on our invitations (which were royal blue, with pale yellow DIY insert cards-our 2 colors).  My FI and I chose outfits that went well with each other, but also complimented our color scheme.  We wore various shades of blues, purples, pinks, blacks.  They came out great!  As long as you match each other and stay away from colors that will clash with what you plan on putting on the STDs, you'll be fine!  And you're not alone, I worried about this too :)

    Ours didn't match. Our colors are light blue and dark blue - FI wore a yellow shirt, jeans, and a grey vest and I was in a black and white dress with red shoes. I don't think anyone noticed or cared :)

    FI and I used a totally random (but adorable) picture up in a tree while apple picking. When a nice girl passing by heard me go "Oh, maybe we can get a cute pick for the STD", she stopped, volunteered to help and took like 8 pics for us. We ended up with the perfect one, even though it didn't match our wedding in any way. FI and I didn't even match, to be honest.

    CN: Don't worry, your STD will be cute no matter what.

    What PP posters said about busy patterns. I would like to add don't be too matchymatchy with your fianc. It looks strange seeing a couple wear the same sweater. It makes me think of twins when their mom dresses them alike because she thinks it's cute. Just wear nicer versions of your normal day to day clothes.

    Thank you guys.  It helps to hear what other people wore!  I think I decided to wear a red cardigan with red patent pumps (my new best friends - I love them and got them for about 60% off normal price!) and jeans for our "casual" outift, and a navy pencil skirt and a really pretty yellow sweater for the dressier.  FI is going to wear a white shirt with jeans for the casual pics (and probably a Texas Rangers hat :) and jeans, dress shoes, and a navy sport coat for the dressier.  Nothing that "matches" our wedding colors, but nothing clashing either.

    Just venting to you all about my silliness helped me decide!  :)

    Oh heck no you don't have to match your wedding colors!  And it's a good thing too!

    I arranged for our engagement pictures to be at the local botannical gardens under their huge display of blooming wysteria (yes they got tired of me calling and asking if the flowers are blooming yet).

    I would have looked pretty stupid trying to rock gold and silver in a spring garden that was bursting with bright purple, reds, yellows, and green.  So instead I decided to pick outfits with colors that popped too.  One dress had beauitful coral print, and the shirt I brought was a one-shoulder bright blue.

    No need for you to coordinate with your wedding colors - and I would even encourage you not to color-coordinate with your FI. Wear the same style (dressy, casual, whatever) as your FI, but don't match in color. Play with patterns, prints, pops of color - but FI and I both had red legs (pants/tights) in our engagement photos, and we are not happy with how it looked...

    Our wedding colors are navy and pink, and FI and I decided to match our engagement picture outfits to the colors with navy and white clothes. But I like navy anyway, so I used it as an excuse to get a new cute dress for spring and FI some nicer clothes.

    We wore neutral colors but if you are worried about matching colors, you probably wouldn't have done what we did: I carved our wedding month and day into pumpkins so we had a very fall-themed STD for our Spring wedding!
