Ceremony?

Has anyone given any thought (other than marrying their FI) to their ceremony?? I have no idea what we want really.. We arent religous and and our officiant is non.de. We also found a few readings we like, but arent too sure when they are read?

I also have just recently seen stuff about all these different ceremonies? Tree, sand candle?? are these needed or can we just sign our papers?

What readings are you guys doing? Unity ceremonies? Writing your own vows? Traditonal vows? SO MUCH TO THINK OF MY HEAD HURTS

Re: Ceremony?

  • I googled it and got a slew of options and just pieced together what we liked.

  • No idea. We are having a retired judge marry us, no religious aspect. Probably just short and sweet.

I think it comes across as July 27th 2013. I forwarded the whole thing and it wouldn't let me change the title.

I could also send you our ceremony she finalized if you would like.

  • Our pastor said that we would meet sometime in May to discuss the service, so aside from who I want to do music and readings, we will use the traditional vows and not write our own, etc. we haven't nailed down the details yet.

  • We are also not religious and having a nondenominational ceremony. Our officiant discussed with us various things we can incorporate, and gave us a questionnaire to fill out so she can build the ceremony around us. She said we can do as little or as much as we like. We are choosing to do a ring warming where our rings are placed in a little bag and passed around the guests so everyone can give their well wishes and be a part of the ceremony. We are not doing any of the unity candles, sand, etc because its just not us. We are having a rose presentation for our mothers and will be recognizing our parents. I don't think we will have any readings. There are a lot of things you can do with a secular ceremony.

  • yeahh  I thought about the sand/ candle and I dont think I like it. But that ring warming ceremony sounds fun!

@alyssa I got your email, I still havent gotten a chance to look at it yet. Im freaking out about this stupid invite mishap )=
  • We're doing a Catholic Mass, so there's not too much we can do about the structure.  We get to choose our readings, vows, music, and all that stuff though.  We're adding the unity candle thing!  The music will be the most personal part for us because all our musicians are dear friends of ours.  My FI and I met playing trombone, so we're having a trombone choir of our friends play for the processional and recessional, with music that I'm arranging.  My high school choir teacher is doing the rest of the ceremony music, which will make it so much more special for me!  Whatever you do, just make sure that your wedding is meaningful to you and your FI!  It will be lovely!
