cake

How far before the wedding should I order the cake? I'm afraid they will lose the order if I order it too far in advance.

I wouldn't worry.  We ordered ours really early because we were so excited to do the tastings!  :)  But I would say 4-6 months probably.  Maybe look at TK's checklist to see what they suggest--I pretty much followed that.

I put the deposit down for our cake order about 5 months out. I was in contact with them a week out from the wedding (to make some tweaks to the grooms cake), and my planner coordinated with them regarding the delivery.
  • We did our cake tastings and made a decision, paid in full 2-3 months before the wedding. It might be a good idea to do it a little sooner than that (like the other girls recommended), because when I started contacting the cake bakers, it was hard sometimes to set a date for a tasting (one I had to book like 2 wks or so in advance), and some of them were already booked when I contacted them too.
