Church Decorating

Is anyone NOT decorating the church they are getting married in (if you are getting married in a church)? We decided not to and now I'm, for whatever reason, second guessing that.

Re: Church Decorating

  • I think churches need minimal decorations, since most of them are designed with a lot of interesting and/or unique architectural features anyways. You'll be fine. :)

  • I'm not either.  We only have a certain time slot to our wedding and worrying about setting up and breaking it all down just makes my head hurt :)

  • We are only having 2 small arangements at the alter and the small flowers for our unity candle

  • We are not getting married in a church, but we are getting married in a library. We are not decorating it at all.

We are not decorating the church just putting an Alter Arrangment in memory of my FI deceased father then that will be moved to the gift table at the reception.

  • We aren't decorating either. My mother thinks we need aisle decoration, candelabras, candles and flowers in the window. I just think it's a waste of money because the church is so pretty and has these huge windows for natural sunlight.
  • We aren't getting married in a church, we're getting married in a park amphitheater, but we are not doing any decoration at all! For us it's naturally beautiful and needs no decoration! For me a church is a similar thing, it's already beautiful, sacred and peaceful. Why try and dress that up! I wouldn't worry about it!

  • I picked the church because it was pretty, we are doing two small artificial arrangements for the altar, 10 pew bows (every other pew) and unity candle. I think most churches are naturally pretty and don't need much.

"So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me... everyday."~The Notebook~
  • Thanks for the reassurance ladies. I think we'll just stick with our unity candle. The church has beautiful stained glass windows and a nice alter, so I think it will be beautiful left alone.

  • We're not getting married in a church but the building we are using is so historically and  architecturally interesting I don't want to take anything away from that.
