I had a dress picked out (
link) that I found when I went shopping for with my mom and a bunch of family a few months ago. It was a nice long chiffon sheath dress that's suitable for a beach wedding, but something about it was off. I never felt like a bride in it. It looked like any of my other long sheath dresses at home.
On my own yesterday, I stopped in a bridal shop I'd seen dozens of time but never went in. Told the sales girl everything I wanted, and she understood what I was looking for. We tried on another sheath dress. Nope, definitely not that. Tried on a dress that had everything I wanted, but nothing. Then she got this great idea and pulled an a-line Maggie Sottero dress (
link) with a detached jacket. She said they could easily use the fabric from the jacket to make the top like what I was looking for (
similar to this). She pinned it up. When I looked in the mirror, I cried. That was my dress. I had the moment. And finally, after 6 months, I started feeling like a bride.
