we registered at the Bay. people can purchase online as well as in the store, which works well for us since we have family and friends from out of town.

People generally register at The Bay (and Home Outfitters since they are connected)

    Some people register at Sears.

Yup the bay and homeoutfitters here. The only mistake I made that I did my registry too early at homeoutfitters and by the time people actually started buying stuff for me which is now; some of the things i registered were getting discontinued so I had to go back multiple times to replace them.

I would not do your registry at least a month before your shower if you are having one.

We registered at William Ashley and Williams Sonoma. The service at both was really good!

I registered at The Bay and Home Outfitters.  Mainly because the stock is generally the same across the province and people from out of town can order online for us to pick up (a few aunts live out of town and want to send gifts in their absence for the shower)

William Ashley is another popular one and sometimes people register at Sears and Kitchen Stuff Plus as well.

I registered at Sears and Homeoutfitters.

A lot of my guests are from medium sized towns and they often don't have a Bay or Home Outfitters.

    Have fun!

We registered at the Bay.  Lots of people (including PPs) register at Home Outfitters and Sears.  Sears has more outdoor stuff like lawnmowers, tools, etc. which, if you have a house full of stuff already, might be useful.

I have seen a couple of people register at Bed Bath & Beyond or Crate & Barrel but it's less common and there are fewer locations.  Almost everyone has a Bay near them.

Home outfitters and sears as well.  We were originally going to do the bay and home outfitters, but liked the fact that you could add registry items for sears through the website or catalog, that guests could buy online and see what they were ordering, and that sears sells tools.

We did Home Outfitters (I totally recommend the location at Eglinton Town Centre - and absolutely avoid the location at Yorkdale, as we had a lot of registry issues there).

We registered at The Bay as well, but honestly stuff was too pricey and I didn't want to be stuck doing completions - at Home Outfitters we could get a comlete set of something for a price we thought was more what our guests would pay.

The biggest draw back to both of those is that you can't shop online and the registry list is just by name, so it can be hard to find stuff.

If you go to a wedding show, sign up for your registries there, as they usually offer gift card promotions just for signing up and adding a few items - even if you never send the list out to your guests you still get the gift card.

If you do sign up at a wedding show make you sure call and ask they delete the registry.  Otherwise some guests could stumble upon it by accident, assume it was real, and try to buy you something they thought you wanted but really you only put on there to get a gift card at a bridal show.

,,, which i'm pretty sure is the whole reason they do this at bridal shows.

I set up www.myregistry.com. Things like china patterns (if you go that way) are available at tonnes of stores and it lets people shop around easily.  ie - my cousins are in the US and will buy things at macy's, etc, instead of the Bay.  It also let me add random kitchen gadgets that can be bought at all sorts of places, I just searched on Amazon.  It also allows people to buy things and have them shipped to us, as we live in a small town.
We also registered at the Bay and set our pick up location so that we can drive and get things.
As the main wedding is in Toronto, we would have loved to register at William Ashley instead, but we don't live in Ontario.  Their selection and pricing is so much better than any of the Bays that I have been to in the past few years.  Apparently. they also let you take ALL things purchased from them for you and hold it as a store credit!  They don't guarantee your china pattern will still be available, but if you were say, moving in six months, you can choose to not have any of your things until you have a place to put them.  Friends in grad school found this very very helpful!
We also registered at Birks, but I really doubt anyone will be buying any of the silver from them, I have encouraged people to use eBay and craigslist, as the prices for new are just ridiculous!
