I would suggest visiting really good quality stationery websites and making sample invitations, to see how font combinations look in different combinations, different colors, sizes.

Try Bella Figura (high end stuff)
    David's Bridal Invitations (affordable)
    and
www.zazzle.com (more of a DIY but lots of font choices)

I ended up going with two fonts. I would *not* use more than two. It begins to look sloppy imho.  I choose "Cezanne" (a messy hand-made looking calligraphy) and "Quick Death Regular" (a really clean, crisp, sans serif that looks slightly art deco but not too gimicky).  My other piece of advice is to select a combination of either:

    a. calligraphy & sans serif

    OR

    b. calligraphy/cursive & serif

    or
    c. sans serif & serif

Not two of a type - like, not two calligraphy or two sans serif or two serif.

I personally like the contrast between 'messy' and 'clean' you get with a.

I would also look into a font that is versatile and available for many items, so if you are doing your own printing on some items, either find a font pair you have already on your computer or consider buying these fonts, so that things look more designed/matched.  Ditto paper, color, motifs, etc.

    Good luck!
