Menu Cards

Hello all,

I am getting married October 5 of this year. I want to design some Menu cards the problem is. I am not sure where to list each item. The food will be served buffet style & I am aware that menu cards are not used with a buffet style meal but I've just always envisoned that.

So if I am serving

Fruit Tray   Salad   Corn on the Cob  Green Beans
Homemade Macaroni & Cheese     Homemade mashed potatoes
Lasagna Baked Chicken  Alfredo  Dinner Rolls  Wedding Cake & Grooms Cake

Is there anyone who can help me with how this should be written on the actual card?
Thanks in advance!!

Re: Menu Cards

  • We had family style and this is what I did. I am cutting names of items short for the purposes here, but you'll get the idea

Hor Dorvers (I know it's spelled wrong) - we had a table of snacks set up
    cheese & crackers
    white pizza
    veggies & dip

    Salad
    Italian salad Salad w/house dressing

    Entrees
    Chicken
    Beef
    Potatos
    Mixed Veggies

    Dessert
    Assortment of pastries
    Chocolate Covered Strawberries
    Fruit Platter

And to pull them off cheap but still look nice I bought a very heavy cardstock from office supply store. Then on my Word Program picked the option for typling in columns & centered the wording in each column. I found a nice font (that was the hardest part) & printed on paper. I cut the paper in half & then a section off the bottom so they were the right length & used a really nice corner cutter that I picked up in the scrapbooking section at my local craft store. It was a detailed cutter, not just a rounded edge. A lot of people thought they were professional done,

what do you mean by 'buffet style'? are you having a buffet or not?
imo the menus in that case are useless. you can put small signs in front of each dish of food on the buffet.

We're also doing a buffet and I'd really like to do menu cards as well (probably just one per table, instead of per person, but I haven't decided). Even though they might not be done for buffets, I thought guests might appreciate one so that they know what their choices are before they actually get up to the buffet. It may also reduce the time it takes for all the tables to be served. What I'm doing for my menu cards is to divide them into sides, entrees, and desserts (with "choice of:" listed underneath). So for you, perhaps you might do:

    Entrees:
    Choice of:
    Lasagna

    Baked Chicken
    Alfredo

    Sides:
    Choice of:

    Fruit
    Salad
    Corn on the Cob
    Green Beans
    Homemade Macaroni & Cheese
    Homemade mashed potatoes
    Dinner Rolls

    Desserts:
    Wedding Cake & Grooms Cake

Just a suggestion. In any case, it sounds delicious!
