Aldie Mansion Doylestown

Is anyone familiar with the Aldie Mansion in Doylestown?  I am 3.5 months away from wedding day and need some advice! They offer to set up big white Chinese lanterns both inside and outside.  They are a nice addition- but is it tasteful?  Were getting married on the first day of summer, and are going to have a rustic, woodsy theme.

I might want to do a craft project and set up luminaries all along the slate path back to the garden.

For our centerpieces: we are thinking about having rock cairns rather than the standard floral arrangement (goes along with woods/trail theme).  Will the romance be lost with out flowers?!

If anyone has been to or had a wedding at Aldie please share your thoughts and experience!  I am so excited and want to know everything about this place!

Thank you!

  • I've been to a wedding there, but there were no lanterns. My florist works there a lot.  Msybe she has pictures she'd show you.  I like your idea but the ballroom is really kind of  bland.  .  Can you do a combination of something with rocks and flowers for their color?  My florist is the nicest vendor I'm working with. and really budget friendly.  She'll help you figure it out and answer your questions.  WhimsicalWelcomes.com  Good luck!
  • I am getting married at Aldie Mansion on 8/31/13.  I was able to see the lanterns up before a wedding earlier this year, and they are beautiful!!  We are definitely having them there for our wedding.  I agree with the first reply you received that you might want to include some flowers in your centerpieces.  You don't have to go crazy, but a small pop of color would be nice.  I actually talked to their florist, too, but she was a bit out of my price range.  I went with Always Beautiful Flowers out of Quakertown, PA.  Alice is absolutely wonderful, and her rates are unbelievable!  Good luck with your planning, and congratulations  :)

  • My sister got married there in summer 2008 the venue is absolutely beautiful. If ur having. Woodsy rustic theme I don't think Chinese laterns will look right. I also think its a great idea to DIY ur centerpieces just make sure u ask the venue bc u never know they're may be some kind of hidden fee for not using standard flowers
