Is this too corny?

So I'm not really a fan of a boring old guest book because I know I'll never look at it. I also do not want a book with our epics people can sign, because honestly if I'm going to spend on a nice album, I don't want people's stupid writing all over it. I like the river rock idea but it seems too impractical to find that many decent size flat easytowrite on rocks that fit in a container. Therefore, the only idea I could find that I thought was decent is to have guest sign jenga pieces. I cannot say that I recall my fianc ever playing board games but we do own our own home and no games, so it might be fun to start a collection. I was thinking I could even have a little sign that says:

just as the box says, life marriage are about having
"edge of your seat fun" and building memories. Sign a block Share with the bride groom your words of wit, wisdom, love.

Too corny?

That sounds corny to me. Mostly it's the sign that makes it so.

We did a thumb print tree, which we love. Honestly, I would probably skip the sign. Instead, have your bridal party/parents/whatever write their names and words of wisdom. When your guests see the markers out and a few examples, I think they'll "get" it. (Or at least they did with the thumb print tree and the ink pads.)

I'm not crazy about the "edge of your seat" fun part, but I do like the signing of the Jenga pieces overall.

I'd think it was strange if you guys aren't game players. I like the idea over all, not a fan of the sign wording. However, you will have to store the Jenga game also. Just an idea, we are doing a calendar and having guests sign on their birthdays. I hate that we miss so many birthdays because we don't have them written down. I'll keep the calendar for a year, and then revamp the new calendar each year. Maybe I'll keep the old one, maybe I won't, but I just hate the idea of storing anything that I will probably never look at again.

I like the idea in general. Some things to think about:

1a. There are only 54 pieces to a Jenga game...will you have to get more than one so each guest can sign?
1b. My husband and I would each sign one...so don't assume the "one per couple" rule.
2. What are your plans if one or more of the blocks go missing? I could very easily see someone misspelling something or making a mistake while writing on a block and throwing it out

I think you might have to go a different route. Do you and your FI have any other hobbies? DH & I are sports fans, so our guests signed a jersey and we framed it.

Just remember that you don't HAVE to have a guestbook. As many have said, people usually never look at a traditional guestbook after the wedding itself, and I don't think you should force yourself to do something that's not really your and your FI's style. (For example, I know Addie's said in the past that people signed river rocks, which made sense since she got married near a waterfall, or itzMS' idea makes sense because they're sports fans.) I actually really like Shannon's idea about the calendar - but that's just me! *Shannon* are you planning on having a sign of any kind explaining? In any case, OP, if you think signing the jenga pieces would start a game collection for you and FI, great! If not, you don't have to have a guestbook at all.

We are using a photobooth/scrapbook as a guestbook. Guests keep one strip of pictures and put the other strip in the guestbook and sign there.

You don't *have* to have a guestbook, but if you do, I'd remove the corny factor. Lose the sign.

I will leave the comments on the idea to others. I have concern with the statement you made about FI and games. Turns out my DH does not like games. So if you are serious about this i would make sure how he feels about games first.

I think the idea is cute... But like you said you may fiance may not be that big into board games. So who knows this could be shoved in your closet after a few years like a guest book. I also am not a huge fan of guest books. I think they are really old school and very impersional. I am getting married in August and my fiance and I did something a diffrent. I made our own quest book from shutterfly. Every page has a couple pictures of us when we did a photo shoot with a friend to get our engagement picture. I was able to make it more us and have all pictures of that day in it. Plas I made the lines and saying my self inside. Those photo books are normally expensive, but I got a $20 off coupon from davids bridal when I gor my wedding dress for shutterfly so I got it for dirt cheap.
