Bummed....but in a good way?!

So I finally got my dress back from the seamstress (she is a family friend who charged me next to nothing and did a great job).  At the time I tried it on everything else fit well so she didn't do anything besides the bustle and hem.

In the time that it took for me to get the dress to her for alterations to now, I dropped a few pounds - nothing dramatic but the sides could certainly be taken in a bit to make it form fit the way it should up top.  I get married in 1 week and I already know she is leaving for a vacation this weekend so I'm stuck with it the way it is.  I'm certainly NOT bummed to have lost the weight because I have really struggled with it the last year, but a bit disappointed that after splurging on my dream dress, its just a little bit off.  Besides marrying this wonderful man for life, having this perfect dress was pretty much the only wedding detail that really mattered to me.

I realize this is insignificant in the scheme of things and perhaps the universe's way of smacking me upside the head for spending so much on a dress in the first place. But just needing to vent my disappointment and move on!

  • Great job on losing the weight!  But I understand that you're bummed that the dress is not just right.  Do you have the extra money to take it to another seamstress or tailor since the one you are using is going on vacation.  It make cost a bit more then usual because your wedding is only a week away but it could be worth it.
