After taking a break from wedding planning my head has finally cleared. Talked with the family except for the FML and it was all agreed that a light reception of sandwiches, salads, and other appropriate items would be best for the type of reception we are planning. I finally realized that if she say it to my face in front of the whole family about having a hot meal, and agrees with everyone about the light meal, and then turns around and facebook message me about a hot meal...ya you get the picture.
Anyway, we have also decided on other things. We will be getting married in a church that is seven miles away and having the reception at the farm/barn. The wedding is still at two.
First question is how should a word the invitations for the reception? Should I just put reception and dance or what are the other best options. Our guests will be having a full dinner plate of food, but it just wont be a "course" meal. On that note too here in Iowa it can be 40 and chilly or it can be 80 or even 90 and humid, so a light meal and offering warm drinks if the weather permits will be best.
Second question is how are most of you receiving RSVPs? I'm thinking about putting an email address for people who I know email, and put stamps on for people who I know will more than likely send via email.
Third questions is directions. The reception is about an hour away from everyone, and the reception starts at two, should I block rooms? I already have, but I'm not sure. As well, should I place the directions from the ceremony to the reception or should I just have the directions available at the ceremony. I'm thinking about using post cards for hotels and directions with the invites.
Any advice would be great.
