Happy Monday!

Good morning! Did everyone have a good weekend? DH and I went for a long walk yesterday to take advantage of the gorgeous weather. I hope this week goes by fast since it is my last week of school. I am ready for a break so we can get to work in the baby's room. Tonight DH is working really late so I am meeting my sister for dinner at my Grandma's house and then spending the night with her.

Re: Happy Monday!

  • Yay for baby room!  Our nursery is currently our office, and I have only recently convinced H that our large, heavy rolltop desk needs to come out of there.  Unfortunately, when we put it in there, it was with the intention of never removing it, so it's kind of wedged into a little nook where it fits perfectly and is going to be very hard to get out.

We took our dogs to two different dog parks over the weekend.  At one our shepherd "learned" to swim, which was fun to watch.  The other was run by an animal shelter, so it was neat to let our dogs (who are both rescues) play with the shelter dogs.  Except I wanted to adopt all of them.

HOPEFULLY I'll get my car sometime this week.  We're supposed to be getting some severe weather tomorrow, so I'd like for it to be safe in a garage by then...

  • We had pretty rainy, drizzly  weather all weekend so we didn't do much - just stayed in, watched movies, and I made soup.  It's nice to have some weekends like that.  This week should be  pretty hectic at work since we're moving to a new office building Thursday/Friday, so I'm glad I got some relaxing  in!
  • Yay! for baby rooms! Sooo much fun. Prof, we also converted an office/catch all your junk room, so cleaning it out was half the battle! Expecting lots of vicarious baby prep from all of you mamas to be in the next few months! :)

We had a nice weekend. H and I took turns running errands so the other could stay home with C (makes it soo much easier and a nice break for me). Saturday night, we grilled, and were chatting on the patio with a couple of drinks and the baby swinging in her outdoor swing. We had a baseball game going in the living room so we could keep track of the score while we were outside. It was so simple, but we both commented on how it doesn't get any better!

I've got a busy week ahead, so I'm trying to get a bunch of stuff around the house done today.

Last year at work, we had this big furniture switch/debacle. It made me decide that moving at work <em>might just </em>be worst than moving houses. Not to be Debbie Downer -- just a little empathy. :)

Any empathy is much appreciated :)  This is my fifth year with the firm, and will actually be my third move - it's been great how much our firm has grown in the past few years, but we keep outgrowing our space!  This new building has a lot more room to grow, so I'm hoping this is our last move for quite some time.  If things go as planned we'll be moving into a new house sometime this year too, so lots of chaos for me!

I'm looking forward to hearing all about the baby rooms in the future!  Recently H and I joked that even though he's so  picky about decor/color/etc. in the rest of our house, he will let me do whatever I want with our nurseries :)

He just may surprise himeself. If you asked my H, he would have said that he didn't care about the nursery at all. Then, when it actually came time, he found himeself Googling images of nurseries for inspiration! He actually chose the paint color (which ended up being so perfect!) and some of the decorations based on the inspiration picture!

<div>This has been my husband as well.  He always said he didn't really care about the decor of our home, or he trusted me, or he had "no eye" for that kind of thing.  So when we moved into our house, he actually got sent off to a three-month training pretty much right away, leaving much of the unpacking/decorating to me.  Then when he got back, he had opinions about tons of things and even reorganized some of the stuff I'd unpacked.</div><div>
</div><div>We're really lucky in that our walls in our house were already all painted a really nice shade, so we don't want to paint our nursery -- just had to find bedding and other decor that "goes."  H has said the decor is pretty much all me, but he wrinkles his nose any time I start talking about pinks and yellows, so I'm sure he'll have plenty to say when the time comes.  =)</div>

  • I know my H will be super opiniated when the time comes to decorate a nursery.  He's already shared with me several of his nursery theme ideas, actually.  But I knew when I married him that he cares a lot about how his home looks, so I can't pretend to be surprised.

We had a nice weekend...mostly lowkey, but I took a couple of walks outside, which was wonderful because the weather is so nice!  I can feel my spring allergies coming on, though, so I'm having mixed feelings about the arrival of spring.

This week is going to be crazy busy since Sunday is my sister's shower.  I have lots of prep work to do, and will be SO relieved when it's over!  I just really want her to have an amazing time, so I'm stressing.

Did you mention whether it is a baby or bridal shower? I am going to my cousin's baby shower this weekend, and I haven't had to do anything for it, so it will be nice to show up and enjoy. I'm also excited because I went in on a big group gift, and I know it's something my cousin really wants. I love giving people useful stuff that they really want!

  • The weekend was pretty good. We spent Friday boxing up some stuff around the condo.  We close on our home in two weeks!! I'm so excited and so anxious to get in there and make it ours.  We bought new appliances in Home Depot.  We got a new fridge and new dishwasher all stainless steel.  We also looked at paint colors for the master bedroom.  We are doing blue. but it's hard to come up with a color I don't think is too dark, and he doesn't think is too light. So we'll see.

Sunday we slept in a bit and then went furntiure shopping. We did buy anything but we looked around just to get an idea of what we like and how much to budget for furniture.  We went to the local diner for some dinner.  I can't believe it's Monday already.

  • I've had it in my head for quite some time now that I want a yellow and grey nursery, which will fortunately work for either gender - and H is totally on board with that.  I know he'll still have LOTS to say about it, but will be more willing to compromise or go with "my" choice on things than in other rooms.

Before I make him out to be a total grouch or domineering type, he really does have a great eye for things given his architecture background.  So he pays a lot more attention to decor/color/style than others might, and I do appreciate his input a lot.  Luckily we have pretty similar taste so it's not too bad :)
  • Oh wow, I almost forgot: Sunday our priest announced that he's being reassigned to another parish in the city.  It's great for that parish, but SO sad for us.  So many people (including him) were crying when he told us.  He assured us that the priest who is "replacing" him is so excited to be joining us that he apparently drove around in the parking lot of the church to take pictures.  I'm bummed because he's leaving at the beginning of July, and our baby is due mid-July.  I told H we'd either have to invite him back to baptize her or be the new priest's first baptism at his new parish.

  • Prof - that's too bad that  your priest is leaving, and at such an important time for your family.  However, it sounds like the next priest could be a really great guy too, so I hope it all works out!  It would definitely be special and memorable for your little one to be that priest's first baptism in the new church.

We were a little disappointed that our church was reassigning priests prior to our wedding, as the priest that we thought we'd be working with would no longer be there and we were nervous to work with someone else.  However, the new priest assigned to our church was wonderful and I couldn't imagine having gone through the marriage prep process with anyone else.
  • Erin, yeah, it's such a MINOR inconvenience and really not all that important in the grand scheme of things.  This new priest will (hopefully) be the one our daughter grows up listening to and learning from, so it will be so much more meaningful to her to have that connection with him rather than with the outgoing priest.
