Rehearsal Dinner Place Downtown?

Since 90% of our 200 guests will be coming from out of town, we are inviting everyone to the rehearsal dinner. Any suggestions for restaurants downtown that could handle 100 guests?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Place Downtown?

  • It sounds like you're having a pre-wedding reception with that many people.  While it's proper etiquette to invite out of town guests, most rehearsals include the BP, their SOs, the parents, and any other people that are important to the actual running of the ceremony.  I think most people would feel awkward being invited to a rehearsal dinner when they don't have an immediate affiliation to the ceremony.

  • It's very nice of you to include out of towners (who are already spending a ton of time and money to come celebrate with you!)

Any of the nice downtown hotels  - Hyatt, Hilton, Sheraton formerly Hyatt Cap Square, Rennasaince, etc... would be able to accomodate your group in a private banquet room.

Some Arena restaurants have private rooms, but I don't think they have room for 100 + people on a Friday night?  Schmidts and Lindeys in German Village have private rooms, but not sure if they are that big
  • Thanks for your suggestions! I think you may be right, we may have to use our hotel (the Sheraton) for the rehearsal dinner. I thought about Lindey's as well, but want to keep it casual since our reception is black tie optional.

I don't think that our friends and family will feel awkward attending a pre-wedding dinner, things have never been awkward at any of our other get togethers :). As you know, details of the rehearsal aren't discussed at the dinner. We are also doing a post wedding brunch at the hotel as well, we want to see/celebrate with our out of town guests as much as possible!
  • Not sure how many upstairs at the North Market holds, also, both Barley's have back rooms, which hold a number of people? Buca di Beppo?
  • Thank you Lanibug! I LOVE your ideas! I have emailed The Market and am going to call Barley's.
  • Smchidt's...we are using them. It's $14 or $15 for buffet including room rental, tax, gratuity - basically everything but alcohol. Cream puffs are extra or you can bring in your own dessert.
