Father/daughter dance: sweet home alabama?

Hello ladies,

I'm trying to come up with my father daughter dance song.  I don't have the kind of relationship with my dad to play anything sweet or sappy.  The lyrics would just be untrue.

I really wanted something more upbeat.  I thought of Sweet home alabama because it's a fun song, and I was born in Alabama.

But I'm not sure how danceable the song really is.  My dad seemed okay with it, and he's coming into town a couple days early and said we could practice dancing.  But I'm not a very good dancer, and I'm not even sure how we should dance to it.

If you think it's a good idea, how would you dance to it?
If you think it's a bad idea, do you have another suggestion for a fun song to dance to for father/daughter?

  • That's cute!  Certainly an easier song to dance to, haha...

  • Jewel does a great version of that song. It's not as fast as the original but it's not super slow and sappy. I think if you went with the Jewel version you could easily just do a fun dance.
