Don't Registry Stalk

Just a bit of advise.... My shower was last weekend and while it was amazing, there were few "surprises" bc I stalked my registry so much.  I'm terrible at surprises so I'm sure even if I did have a do-over I'd still stalk, but if you can help yourself before your shower I suggest you try not to!

  • Eh...I'm not going to be surprised anyway because we selected everything. I'd rather draw the whole thing out as long as possible by being surprised every few days when I check my registry. Then, when I go to my shower, I'll be surprised again when I see who purchased it. I'm bouncing off the walls waiting for this wedding and I have to do SOMETHING.
  • I can't help it, lol.  But at the end of the day I do not know WHO got what, so it will still be somewhat of a surprise :)

  • You picked it all out.  How are you expecting to be surprised?

DH and I registry stalked every day.  They fun was trying to figure out who bought us what and when it would be arriving.

  • I stalked both the registry and the thank you note manager so I knew who was buying what.  And I was still surprised because many people bought us extra things.  I'm not somebody who deals with surprises well - usually my reactions to gifts aren't as "good" unless I am anticipating it - so I think it's more than fine to stalk if that's what you need to do to make sure you appear excited about the gifts you are opening in front of guests.

Besides, it allowed me to get started on my thank you notes early.  I'm 2 thank you notes behind 2 days out from my wedding.  That's because I stalked the thank you note manager.

This. When you create a registry, you kind of know what you're getting as gifts. It was way more fun trying to guess who got what.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Sorry, I meant I stalked the thank you card manager, so I knew who got what.  It took some fun out of seeing what I got off my registry and from who!

  • I totally did and then H started to as we got close to the wedding. We got a few things that were not off our registry and those were fun but we were excited to get things that we needed even though we knew that we were getting them.
  • I absolutely registry stalked and do not regret it! Sometimes it was the highlight of my day. "SOMEONE BOUGHT THE KITCHEN AID STAND MIXER!!!" would be a typical message to my husband (then FI) during the day. I didn't set up the thank you card manager so it would still be a surprise of who gave what at my bridal shower.

Admittedly, this was us too.  We had fun with it!

  • My shower is in just under 3 weeks away and I registry stalk everyday. I have resisted looking at the thank you card manager, thats where I am drawing the line.

  • I totally registry stalk. Bad me. I know. I have also been toning down our registry though (horrible excuse I'm using). However, I don't know if BedBath& Beyond has a thank you card manager, and if they do I haven't figured out how to turn it on, so that's fine with me.
