Lorax/Dr Seuss wedding?

Has anyone ever had or is having a Lorax themed wedding? ....at least the color schemes of pink, orange, yellow, purple, green, blue, etc.... the bright colors? I really want bright colors...and colors that stand out. Thoughts on this?

*****edit: I don't want it to be actually "The Lorax"....mostly colors and stuff.

Re: Lorax/Dr Seuss wedding?

  • You can have any colors you want, but if you do this as a theme beyond just using colors, keep it VERY small and simple, like just with the favors and maybe a groom's cake, or it is going to look like a child's birthday party.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

<div>Agreed.  I'm personally not a fan of this theme because unless it is done just right, it will look childish.  Then again, I don't really think that weddings need themes at all, so maybe I'm biased.</div>
  • I think that this could be a really amazing wedding if done right.

I agree that you should not go literal.  You don't want to look like you are at a child's birthday party.  My general idea is that if you want to have a lot of bright colors, use a lot of neutrals for big items, then use brightly colored accents.  The colors will stand out more, and your guests will not feel dizzy staring at bright orange tables on a hot pink floor.

If you want to take the theme of the Lorax or Dr Suess, take the concept or moral of your favorite story, and add it to some in subtle way.  For example, with the Lorax, you could have signature drinks at the bar that were orange and pink or centerpieces that mimic the shape of a truffula tree (not made to actually look like one) or entertainers walking around on stilts.

I'm sorry if this is a little overkill.  I just love fun, offbeat concepts.
  • Absolutely include the moral of that book!

FH and I are doing a tree-planting unity ceremony instead of a candle or sand, and that would kind of go with the lorax thing. We are also doing flower-seed favors. I love the color idea! Maybe incorporate them into your BM dresses (maybe just as accents or accessories?) and have a reeeeally fun cake!
  • Thank you for your feedback everyone! I didn't even think to add a couple of things in my post....I have two four year olds (twins), so my life is VERY uh, childish. The Lorax is one of their favorite movies and we've watched it everyday for months pretty much! That being said, my kids are my world and our wedding is more of a family coming together rather than just two people getting married. I don't want to go literal when it comes to Dr.Seuss or the Lorax, but I do like the bright colors of it, as well as there is a fun and funny wedding Dr.Seuss wedding vow that my Fiance and I kind of want to do. I ldon't want the "typical" wedding with the old fashioned stuff.....I want to make my wedding mine, different, and fun. I don't want to overdo it of course. We're having our wedding at an Inn/Farmish type of place...it's really cute. We thought of the tree theme...which came to the Lorax theme even moreso. We want to do maple syrup favors, but I've really liked the seeds idea too. For the cake, I've seen on pinterest the white birch look alike with the initials engraved in a heart. So no, I won't take all of it literally, just adding some fun and different stuff! :)

    </div><div>I agree.</div><div>
</div><div>OP - I get that you have kids and that it's a blending of the families.  But it's still a wedding, not a birthday party.  I'd do a cute cake topper at most.

  • I just...it's a wedding, not an amusement park or a child's birthday party.  The theme is 'getting married.'  I don't understand this general obsession with themed weddings.

  • I'm not understanding all the negativity. Maybe its because I'm fairly new to these boards? She stated she wasn't going to make it all gung-ho lorax, so I'm sure it will look nothing remotely close to 'prom', and I enjoy when couples personalize parts of the wedding. It makes it more unique to them and a celebration of their particular love, rather than a cookie-cutter wedding that could have been anyones. To OP: go for it! I think it will be amazing.
  • Thank you, AudriR. To me, yes, it's a wedding...but it's more of a family coming together...and how I see my own wedding is more important than how anyone else sees it. I'm not saying that I picked the theme "Lorax" or "Dr.Seuss"...I'm just saying I like the colors from it, and some things from it. Let's say you're getting married near the ocean....you might choose a nautical theme because it goes with the colors and whatnot. It's not a big deal, so chill. You don't like themed weddings, then don't do it. But you should have something to go by, hence the Lorax, to have it all come together. To me, I don't care if my wedding looks like childish like a kids birthday or prom. I want it to represent me and my family. I want it to be fun. I don't physically want the Lorax there, I want the colors from it, and maybe a truffala tree!
