Hello Oregon Brides!

There seems to be a few of us now! Yay!
My FI and I got engaged on Jan 18. We have been together for 3.5 years. Our wedding date is Aug 2nd, 2014 and we will be having a kindasorta destination weekend wedding. I am trying to take the planning slow, but I am too excited and want to do everything now!

So far we only have our venue and photographer booked. I am very slowly working on our guestlist. Goodness, that is difficult!

There has been a little bit of introduction on some of the other posts, but tell me about yourselves and your weddings!

Posting from my phone so the paragraphs may be all wonky!

Re: Hello Oregon Brides!

  • I'm not on here often anymore. I've found WeddingWire to be a slightly more friendly board. But I wanted to check on fellow Oregon Ladies! :)

I am getting married in Forest Grove Oregon, at a McMenamins location. It is freaking gorgeous! We are having an outdoor garden party, with lawn games. Mine is in July, so not much longer! I will have been engaged for almost 2 years exactly when we get married, so I know what the long engagement feels like. It is super nice, because I have not yet once felt stressed or time crunched due to the wedding. I suggest getting things done early, so you don't have to worry about them later on! :)

  • That is coming up so quickly! Congrats! I really like most of the McMenamins! That sounds like so much fun! Will you be staying there the night before or after? That was one of my earlier preengagement ideas. Our will be similar to yours, a lot of lawn games and gatherings outdoors.
  • We are getting married 9/13 at Columbia Park in N Portland. So far we have the caterer, photographer, minister, DJ, cake and a whole bunch of DIY to do. We are going home after the reception but off to Mexico a week later.
It's a Friday so we won't have time (or light) for lawn games but it sounds like fun!
Our DJ is a friend who used to be a radio DJ so we still need to get together a sound system to hook up to a laptop, we also need to figure out lights but those are the only "big things" to do. Unless you count DIY or me fitting into my dress as big, which you certainly could!
  • Mauraacro, aside from the "big things" it sounds like you only have fun stuff to do! I wish I were in Mexico right now!
  • Hey everyone I just found this post! So I thought I would add some :)
I'm getting married on July 20th, 2013, so it is not too far away.
We are getting married at the Oregon Gardens in Silverton. I have almost everything, I was in the same boat as you raidawn. I got engaged last March and started planning right away, and also procrastinated on the guest list because it wasn't as fun as the other planning lol.
    Good luck planning everyone!!
