What if you don't want dancing to be part of the reception?

My fiance and I are having a small wedding and we don't really think our families are the dancing types. We want to have an entertaining reception, but what other ways can you envoke a party-like feel with out the DJ or band? We want everyone to be comfortable and have conversation starters.

    My wedding is small also. We do not dance. Our site requires a permit and it wasn't important to us. Just as above poster listed, we are playing back ground music.

    We also thought a nice conversation starter would be a crossword puzzle, we haven't figured out the timing but everyone will have the puzzle and pencils at their seat and we'll read out the answers. We thnk this will be fun and people will find out a little bit about us.

    Same here.  No dancing.  The plan's just to load up an iPod with lots of "Muzak" and play that during the reception.  I think that's just as nice as dancing anyway!  I'd rather be able to talk with my guests and for them to talk with one another anyway, rather than having to get up and do the Chicken Dance.  ;)
