Cake Azure (A+): I was worried about finding a good cake vendor at a discounted price. I obsessed and searched everywhere I could possibly think of- and found Holly at Cake Azure. This woman makes beautiful cakes and came with stellar reviews. She agreed to make our cake on our budget, made exactly what we wanted, and delivered it and set it up on time. We went with the red velvet cake and the chocolate cake with raspberries- Delicious!
Sam's Club (A+): If you're on a budget and aren't afraid of a little work- you may choose to do your own flowers like I did. I ordered 200 Red roses from Sam's Club for $160 and made my own boquets and centerpieces. The bridal party pitched in and it took about 1 1/2 hours for us to make stunning centerpieces and bouquets. I was anxious about doing this ourselves and it was one of the best decisions we made.
DJ Godzilla (A+): Calvin is awesome.. he knows how to keep a party going and help everyone have a good time. I had a very diverse croud at my wedding and everyone was happy. In addition to providing music, Calvin provided uplighting for the reception- it looked great. I'd recommend Calvin to anyone!
Kilowat Resturant at The Platinum (C): This was the only disappointment I had at The Platinum. The day after the wedding a group of about 10 of us wanted to get lunch at Kilowat. We were greeted promptly, but after being seated it took FOREVER to get service. All in all we were at the resturant about 2 hours, and as far as I could see there was one other table of people there. The food was OK but cold when we got it. I wasn't really impressed.
The Venitian (B): After finishing up at The Platinum, FI and I went to stay at The Venitian for a couple of nights. I didn't pay for the room because I had saved up rewards points to stay there. That said, the room was big and nice, but compared to The Platinum it was just adequate. We could have stayed at The Platinum for a reasonable price and enjoyed it much more- lesson learned.
Top of the World at The Stratosphere (A): We decided to sneak in a romantic dinner the night after the wedding. We went to Top of the World and it was expensive, but well worth it. For FI and I I belive the mean came to about $250 with tip, so it was a splerdge but I'm happy we did it. The food was great- view was better. We did get stuck in the elevator on our way up to the resturant (talk about a feak out session!) but we weren't stuck long..
NYNY (A+): We ended our trip with a stay at NYNY, and I was pleasently suprised. The room decor was tacky, but the customer service was amazing. The front desk noted it was our honeymoon and gave us a free upgrade from the Spa Suite to an even larger suite with a hot tub. The room was huge, had a wet bar and good sized living room. Housekeeping came by on night 3 with a card and some chocolates telling us congrats on our wedding- which was thoughtful and a nice suprise. Tacky decor aside- the customer service was enough to win me over.
I wish I could remember all of the places we ate - but I can't ... I guess that goes to show that none were horrible but none were very impressive either. Hope some of these reviews help you all out- I know I planned my wedding based off of Knottie reviews!
