Cruise Reccomendations

Looking for some cruise line recommendations please.  Looking at going somewhere in the Caribbean.

Thanks

Re: Cruise Reccomendations

  • I have cruised twice on Royal Caribbean and really enjoyed it. Once was a more romantic trip, and once was with extended family. Both were fun. My favorite stops were probably the private island days (on Royal, Labadee and Coco Cay).

  • I have been on both Royal Caribbean (twice) and Celebrity (once) and LOVE them both. Both have great iteneraries in the Caribbean and VERY nice accommodations.

My mother in law just cruised with Azamara and talked about how luxurious it was, but judging from what she said about it, it sounded as if it were geared more towards older couples. I could be wrong on that though.....

I know several people who have cruised with Carnival and I have never heard anything good about them.

    Have fun!! :)

</div><div>Yeah, Carnival WAS okay (I've cruised with them twice) but with the problems they have been having lately I would not step foot on one of their ships if it was free.</div><div>
</div><div>I've cruised Royal Caribbean twice and had a blast (and I was on their older/smaller ships).</div><div>
</div><div>To the OP:  when picking out a cruise I recommend deciding if you are cruising for the ship ammenities or the ports the ship visits.  Sometimes it is hard to get an awesome ship and an awesome itinerary on the same vacation, so knowing your priority will help you narrow things down.

  • OP - I would definitely recommend reading the forums on cruisecritic.com for any of the cruise lines you are interested in.

I've only been on one cruise, and it was last year on the Norwegian Gem to the Bahamas. We opted for the smallest/cheapest cabin, but overall the cruise was everything I hoped for and more. I want to go on more cruises in the future and I won't be looking anywhere else but Norwegian. Everywhere we went on the ship was perfectly clean, the food was excellent, and there was a decent amount of quality entertainment (I thought every show was going to be hokey).

  • Cruise critic is your best bet.

Before I can give you a recomendation I need to know what you want?  A good bargain?  great food?  romance?  nightlife?

Different lines cater to different wants.
  • Thanks everyone for your recomendations!
  • The suggestion that Norwegian doesn't have formal nights is a little misleading.  They have what they call "dress up or not" nights.

Check out cruisecritic.com.  Read reviews of all the major lines that offer itineraries to the Caribbean and pick one or two that best suit your needs.  Once you've narrowed it down to a cruise line, then you can pick an itinerary.
  • ive been on disney, princess, carnival, cunard and celebrity. they all had their pluses and minuses.

to me the itinerary is the most important aspect of a cruise so i'd concentrate on that. yuo need to research where each goes and when and what fits into your budget and determine it that way.
