Alterations reccomendations??

I just got my dress back from The Wedding Shoppe! They quoted me 400+ for alterations which seems outrageous to me. We have always used Louise Kegley who is much more reasonable, she is just on the other side of the worl from me! I am in the West Metro. Anyone have a reccomendation for an amazing seamstress in the minneapolis area? If not, I will just be traveling to Ms Louise :)

Thanks everyone!!
Sara

Re: Alterations reccomendations??

  • Amazing Alterations in Anoka. Brenda is extremely knowledgable and her prices are wonderful! I'm paying $241 to have my bodice taken in, a permanent bustle put in, removing cap sleeves and the cost of a new slip.

  • I'm going to Brenda at Amazing Alterations. She's been great so far! I'm not sure how her pricing compares to anyone else, but I think she's asking a fair price.

I didn't have a great experience at Amazing Alterations. But it seems like I'm the only one!

I'm going to Greg's Tailors in Burnsville. It's a local business. So far, I've been really impressed. My alterations are costing about $400, but my dress is really complex. It seemed fair when they broke it out for us. Pretty quick turn around time too.

  • I am going to use Wedding Gown Care Specalist in New Hope. I am out far west too and didn't want to travel to Anoka or farther. I went and met her when I bought a bag for my dress and she was so helpful. I have seen many great reviews on her too. They are located off of 169 and I forgot what crossroad.

  • Shelby - off 36th and 169 right? They do wedding gown preservation as well? Have they quoted you on your alterations yet? Any idea on a ballpark cost?
  • Saralynne, I have not gotten a quote yet, as she reccomend I don't need to go in until sept/oct. And yes, she also does preservation as well as dry cleaning. Because the bag that I got my dress in smelled like moth balls and she said a dry cleaning is about 200.
