Good morning!

It's freaking cold here today, but it's supposed to be 15 degrees warmer tomorrow so I'm feeling hopeful.

FI is home today and then gone for the rest of the week, so I'm taking the afternoon off to spend some time with him.

I finished my crazy class this week, so I'm looking forward to getting back to some wedding stuff!

Re: Good morning!

  • Good Morning! It's cold here too.  It's also snowing.  However, tomorrow is supposed to be 52...New York weather for ya.  I'm hoping to nail down some definite items that I need to order, in an effort to start some of this DIY projects for the wedding. Time to go look at all of those websites I bookmarked months ago.

  • Hello there, ladies!

It was 70 on Sunday and 50's here now. Bah. Supposed to warm back up next week, though, so I am looking forward to that.

Angel, that's great you finished class.

Rel, I wish we had done engagement pictures. We are talking about having some pro pics done soon b/c other than the wedding pics, we seriously have hardly any pics together.

And I second wanting to know what projects are coming. I am in a very wedding mood today.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Addie - I just noticed your ticker.  In what genre do you write?

    P&R - work calls.
  • Addie--I'm curious about the book too!! Details! You guys really should get pics done together..we are kind of the same way with pictures, only have a few really nice ones that I feel like we use for everything. This is our first time getting professinal ones together.

Woo hoo, books and wedding projects.  I kinda wanted to do engagement pics but FI wants to keep everything low key so we took some pics at my parents house over Christmas but nothing professional.
I need to go buy stamps to send the thank yous I wrote this weekend.  We are starting to get gifts delivered which is pretty exciting!

  • Good afternoon now!

I have to work on some wedding stuff as well. I have to cut some luminary paper in the shape of cylindars and "lamp shades". Both for my centerpieces.
Im also going to apply got a job later - a serving job at this really good high end restaurant by my house. They dont open until 4pm, so Ill be there at 355pm. Hopefully going in early will allow me to talk to the hiring manager on the spot. I seriously am going stir crazy. Its officially been a month since I lost my job. Im so over being at home and being broke. I feel like I have so much to do for the wedding, but I cant do any of it because of lack of finances. Its also starting to create some stress between FI & I. Hes getting upset because he is the only one working and we are starting to feel the effects of having less money. Im def starting to get stressed out a little, but keeping hope that it will work out soon.

We are using mason jar drinking glasses.  I am pricing out burlap and ribbon to wrap around the glasses. We are also stringing clear lights around the barn that we are using for the venue.  I WISH I had stocked up after Christmas time, but it totally came and went in the blink of an eye and I didn't get any on clearance. I've also been on the hunt for more addresses for our guests and hounding my parents to get me their lists so I can add those to our master list.

  • Mornin ladies!

Wedding projects get my ears perky too, that's for sure.  I'm still working on finishing up my wedding scrapbook.  I tell myself it's because the scrapbook store is soooo far away, but that's mostly just lies :P.

Rel, do you know what menu options you are tasting yet?  Or are they going to surprise you with their featured items?

  • Sierra--Good luck!!! I'm sorry to hear about all the stress. Did you ever meet with the temp-agency?? I can relate a little. FI lost his job, actually 2 weeks after we met. My roomate ended up moving out and he came to live with me actually only a couple months into the relationship to save him some $ on rent. The economy down here was terrible and he ended up being unemployed for 7 months. Those last 2-3 months got really hard on me. I was frustrated about being the only one who was working and didn't understand why he literally wasn't walking into to places with a resume in hand or at least doing all the cleaning/cooking. Looking back now I realized he had some depression going on from being laid off and it was just as hard on him as it was for me. Something will turn up soon! And I know you have mentioned you have been trying to really keep up with the housework so that counts for something!

  • We are trying 2 kinds of potatoes: twice baked potato casserole, baked sweet potatoes and oven roasted redskin. Then we are trying Pot Roast, Italian Sausage with Red Peppers and Chicken Cordon Bleu. We get to pick 2 meats. Down here caterers do everything buffet style, that's just how it is. We already picked the basic Almondine Green Beans and will have a Romaine salad and Tortellini Pasta Salad...no need to try those. At least lunch will be covered Sat!

  • I want to start working on some signs for the wedding and my table numbers. Still haven't found frames that I like, so I may need to search for some online. I like the idea of the Mrs. And Mr. signs I've been seeing, I think it will look cute on our sweetheart table.

I made those! I just need to go buy ribbon in the color of the dresses/tux vests to hang them with.

I painted them.  I bought two of Martha Stewart's paints from Jo-Anns. A flat ivory color, then a shimmery one. The letters are vinyl stickers. Thanks!  I think with the cost of the wood, paint, letters, and a brush they were $14-$15. I bought it all in one day with one 40% off coupon. I could have gone back on separate occasions, and got a better discount, but my patience for doing that ran out when I did it for my chalkboard contact paper. =P

Hi ladies! I'm late to the game today. It's press day at work, so I was working hard to help get our papers out at a decent time tonight.

It's fun to hear about everyone's projects. You all are much more DIY than I was for our wedding. The few things I did do, I procrastinated too much on which caused me to stress out more than I should have. So good for you guys getting things done in advance!

As always Rel, good luck on the job hunt. It's tough out there. My SIL has been unemployed for close to a year now, despite very actively looking and going on many, many interviews. On the bright side, I think she has found a new calling with food blogging, which in turn inspired me to restart my own blog. So sometimes it helps to try to find a silver lining if you ever start to feel down about unemployment.

Addie, I'm curious about your book too!

Yeah, unemployment is really frustrating.  I haven't worked for about 6 months and now I have a job for 7 weeks which is nice but it means I have to be away from FI for this time.  I hopefully will be able to get a permanent job for after the wedding.

It is facinating isn't it?  That's why I went on my digging spree to get the downlow.  Everyone kept referring to Lucygate and I love researching so I shoved my nose right into the dusty depths of posting history.

Rel, that menu sounds crazy good.  I'm jealous :P.  Good luck with the job hunting too, I know how discouraging it can be.

<div>Thanks! As always, it's a work in progress. I need to get better at posting more frequently - my SIL puts me to shame in that aspect. I've also really enjoyed the food photography. It's amazing sometimes how many pictures I take for just one post and then only use about 3 of them.

  • Sometimes I feel like it's never going to get warm. I'm in Jersey and I haven't felt warm weather since Septemeber. EARLY September.
  • I know how unemployment feels. Moved to fi's city about 4 months ago after I finished up with classes. Been looking for jobs since, both in my field and completely out of my field (retail, food service, etc.). And only had 1 interview so far. Definitely frustrating. I'm hoping to learn some french which will help me land a job (since almost every local place wants bilingual applicants).

Siigh, hopefully I can get some wedding stuff done this weekend though. Might get to see my dress if the seamstress' shop is open while I'm there. :D I packed my wedding shoes just in case, so I can see the whole outfit.
