Wedding Invitations & Paper

Swimming at the lake afterwards...

We are getting married in July at a lake lodge. Following the ceremony we will be having a lunch reception.  All of that should be finished by 2:00 and weather pending, we will spend the rest of the day swimming at the lake.  That evening we will have a very casual BBQ down by the lake for the guests that have stayed.  We want to put an insert in the invitations that invites our guests to bring their swimsuits, lawn chairs, and coolers and spend the day hanging out but are struggling with wording.  Any help would really be appreciated.

The BBQ later will be BYOB?  If that is the case, I would just spread by word of mouth.  If you put an insert in your invitation inviting people to this BBQ later, then you should host the guests who attend entirely.  You should just spread through word of mouth that you are having an casual BBQ later that evening and all guests are welcomed to attend.  When they inquire further it can be said that you are providing x, y, and z, so the guest knows whats going.

This is a tough one. If you are hosting food and beverages AND there will be locker rooms/changing facilities for guests, you could do an insert. I agree with Olive that if it's BYOB, you shouldn't have an insert.

Here's some potential wording if you're hosting:

You are invited to join us for an afternoon at Lake XYZ immediately following the ceremony and reception

Swimming and a public beach are available
Hotdogs, hamburgers, and beverages will be served
