Something old, something new....Stage?

I think Stage responded with the original customs and I searched the sticky in customs and traditions, but I think there was more to it....what were the customs for the something old, something blue?

I remember the something new had to have NEVER been worn, something old from many generations, something blue had to be showing??? Just looking for clarification!  Thanks!

  • Nice thank you!  Also, can you double up on things?  Like could my something borrowed also happen to be blue (I don't have any of these things yet, just a hypothetical)  or old and borrowed?

[QUOTE]Theoretically no, because each is a different focus.  But as I usually tell brides, unless you're actually worried about being kidnapped and left naked in the woods, feel free to bend the rules on this as much as you like.

Oh....I'm always worried about this at weddings....is this not the norm???  I may need to reevaluate my circle of friends.  ;)
    Thanks so much Stage!

  • Hey Stage, about this:

"Something new represents your new independence and the brand new life you will be building with your husband."

Do you think it would be stupid to wear a pin somewhere with an aspect of FI's family crest for the something new?  Or does that fly in the face of the independence too much?

I can PM you a pic of the crest if you are curious.

"Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends time and space."

  • I was wondering about the doubling up too, but I guess that was answered!  I have a new pair of sapphire earrings that I got for xmas, specifically for the wedding.  Question is, should I have it be the blue or the new?  I'm leaning towards the blue, because I can't imagine how else I'd sneak in blue.

In term of the old, does my engagement ring work?  It was my grandmothers.  I also learned that my aunt has the pearl necklace and gloves my grandmother wore at her wedding.  Those could work too?  Does a pearl necklace go with sapphire and diamond earrings?

Sorry to branch off with my own questions on someone else's thread.....
  • Herro?  Stage, are you still following this thread?
