Quote help with beer bottle favors!!

I'm getting married in December and his last name is Shiner so we decided to hand out Shiner Bock beer as a favor since it's an adult only wedding. It's actually going to be a black tie affair but this idea is just too cute to pass up. Anyway I'm going to create my own labels but I'm having trouble coming up with a catchy phrase to attach. The only one I can think of is "May your cup runneth over with love."

Thanks everyone!! =o)

If this is the case that it's an actual black tie wedding, beer favors are probably a little...chintzy.

I <em><strong>love</strong></em> beer. And I <strong><em>love</em></strong> Shiner. Shiner's beer is super tasty, but it's not exactly fancy or "black tie".

A black tie affair that involves guests wearing tuxedos and floor-length gowns probably is not the best/most fitting place for this favor with a cutesy phrase.

  • I agree that if your wedding is truly black tie (tuxedos, long evening gowns, a live band, top shelf open bar, multi-course seated dinner, etc), this is probably not the most...appropriate? favor.

Besides that, do all your guests like beer? I hate beer and many of my friends do as well. Plus even beer drinkers often have a very specific taste and preference in beer. I think the gesture is nice, but I just think beer is something so many people are so picky about that it may not go over super well.

  • Thanks for the suggestions!! I love "Because every day is not black tie."

I'm also handing out mini cupcakes in a personalized box, in the box will be 2, one vanilla decorated like a bride and the other chocolate decorated for a groom.

Sorry for those that think it's not "fancy" or "appropriate", we're jokesters and make light of every situation. The people at Shiner Bock loved the idea and are sending us some merchandise Wink  I don't really mind if it doesn't go over well and what anyone at the wedding will think because we adore the idea and I'm super excited to be a Shiner!!
If my biggest wedding day drama is that someone scoffed at my favors they
    A) don't need to take one and will just have to live their life without
    B) don't need to do it at their wedding
    C) I'd say the night went amazing because you can't please them all!!

Jenny, our intent wasn't to offend you. Your favors are very thoughtful.

    Here's the thing...

Most brides who post here saying their wedding is "black tie" don't know what "black tie" actually means. (not saying this is you...just saying in general)

True black tie is very precise when it comes to etiquette...for good reason.

If you are requiring black tie dress, guests will (rightfully so) expect a certain quality of event.

My mistake!! Our site says black tie optional. My bridesmaids will be in black floor length dresses and the groomsmen will wear tuxedos but the male guests can opt for a suit.

    Any black tie tips/standards?
  • FI and I would love this favor.  It would probably make FI rate the reception as "best reception ever" and if you do the "black" lager like in your picture that ties to black tie.

Regardless of whether or not you do these favors, I don't think this is the best attitude to have in general about ANYTHING at your wedding. The reception (and favors, by the way) are supposed to be a thank you to the guests. So saying "Well I don't really give a crap if anyone likes how we are thanking them for supporting us and showing up to our wedding" is pretty crappy. The favors are not for you. The reception is also not FOR you, it is a thank you FOR your guests. Once you get the "it's my day and I'll do whatever I want regardless of how my guests feel" out of your head, it'll go a lot better.

ETA: Your wedding site should not dictate dress code at all unless the wedding is TRULY black tie, which you admitted yours was not. "Black tie optional" is not really a thing. The formality of your event should come through in the venue and invitations you send out. Unless it is truly black tie (top shelf open liquor, live band, etc.) OR your venue has a dress code, you should not put anything on your site.

When it really comes down to it, I really think the guests will be thinking 1/100th as much about it and will not think anything of it.
