The guestbook/card box

Have you guys gotten these items yet? What are you all thinking of doing, anything creative? I'm kind of liking the thumbprint guestbook idea and a cute mailbox for cards, but not sure I should get these things. Is it too early?

Re: The guestbook/card box

  • I'm making my own cardbox using paper mache boxes. As for the guestbook, I created a photobook on shutterfly using our engagement pictures.  Here's a pic of the cardbox I made for my engagement party.
    • Our guest book I ordered off of Shutterfly.  I got it before Christmas.  It was 50% off, plus I had a $20 card from Davids Bridal for ordering my dress there, and then I had customized it and left it in my cart for a few days, so I  got an e-mail from Shutterfly saying if I ordered what was in my cart I would get 20% off. =) So I ended up with a 12x12 photo book with 30 pages, for $25.90. We added a bunch of photos of us through the years we've been together, plus many of our engagement photos. I love it.  I mean, I've had to store it away for a while, but I couldn't beat the price.
    • Our card box I am re-using from my bridal shower.  I bought one of those vintage photo boxes, but this one looks like a suitcase.  When opened I made a twine string with paper doilies and vintage scrapbook paper that spells out "CARDS" and it's pinned up using clothes pins.  It fits our theme perfectly.

  • I'm not sure what we are doing for a card box but I am pretty sure I want to do one of the thumbprint ones for our guestbook. A friend who is also getting married showed me this etsy site the other day https://www.etsy.com/shop/bleudetoi and she has really beautiful ones (not an ad I promise!). I think that the mason jar one would go along great with our theme, so I may get that one. I also want to have somewhere that the guests can write us a note, so I may do some type of "advice for the couple" thing as well. I definitely don't think it's too early, these are the things you can get done now so you aren't stressing out closer to the wedding! Less than 4 months for us now, WOOHOO!

  • I made our guestbook on Shutterfly.com It turned out great & our venue is providing a bird cage type thing to use as our card box
  • Our guestbook is a scrapbook that guests will sign next to a photobooth strip. (they will also get one to keep from the photobooth) We are putting our wedding colors down as mats for the strip

Our card "box" is a big black lantern (like you night see for a centerpice) but it is plenty big for cards, and we are just leaving the door open.
  • We also used a groupon & got our guestbook through Shutterfly.  It turned out great!  We're still deciding on the card box.
  • Another satisfied customer who got a Shutterfly guest book here. It was a great way to use our e pics. As for the card box, my mom gave me a very splurgy wooden card box I liked from etsy as a Christmas gift. I'm on mobile right now or I'd post a pic, but it's treasure chest shaped, painted white, and has our initials on it. It should have decent home decor value for after the wedding.
  • I havent' decided on a card box yet.  I will get something just don't know what.  As for the guest book,  I want to get a canvas that guests can sign and I can frame after the wedding.

    Love is the ultimate superpower.
It can make you weak and strong simultaneously.

  • lovely---your card box turned out great! I love it!

We are going to do the thumbprint tree for our guestbook so we can hang it up in our front room. FSIL is an amazing artist and is drawing it for us so it will have that personal touch too!

Not sure on the card box yet. Will probably make something silimiar to lovely's with the hat boxes otherwise I might scout out Etsy.

I have no idea yet what I'm doing for a guest book but I just got a vintage suitcase from a flea market since we are doing the vintage/rustic theme.  It's in great shape and stays open on it's own so I can just hang something from the top saying cards.  I was so excited to get it for $10!

  • Hi Ladies!

I'm loving all the happy posts about Shutterfly - I have yet to decide on our guest book and these posts just convinced me to do the same :) Yay!

As far as the Card Box go - we got ours a few months ago from: http://theperfectcardbox.com/

Its a locked box & it has 5 pictures slots for you to display - i was concerned about not having a lock on the box after my friend's horror story of envelopes being taken out of her card box during her wedding :( So dispicable that people would do that! So hence - we got a sturdy locked box and we are leaving the key at home so no one can get into it haha

    Hope this helps!!!

  • Haven't thought about a card box at all... I guess I should look into it!

For our guestbook we are going to get The White Album from the Beatles and have everyone sign it in black sharpies. Afterward I can frame it and put it on the wall in our house.
